That is the family, yes, but I didn't do the post.
I believe and LDS Family Search seems to confirm that William is the father of our Elizabeth Mills. Yet, the birthdate and place of birth are iffy as is the descent. I see a couple of options there for the father of William,

Sorry I have been so slow in responding. I doubt I will be of any help. But if you are still working on this line, here is what I have. Robert Mills (born abt 1701, married Mary Carleton Apr 16, 1725) my 5th great grandfather. He did have a son William and also a son Robert (also 7 other children). Robert married Susanna (last name ?) and they had 5 children and 1 was Elizabeth born 03 Oct 1768. I have that she married William Sheward 19 Sept 1784. She died 1787 and had only 1 child, Robert but I have no information on him. Does that fit with any information you have? Stanley Mills stitchers@charter.net

Thanks for responding. With additional research, I am fairly sure the Elizabeth Mills who married into our Elisha Colbert family has a William Mills as father, and he was in Gallatin Co., IL, mid 1800's. She indicated, however, that her family lived two to three days journey from IL. What that means we don't know, but I have found Mills families in the upper regions of GA/Carolinas and lower TN areas. Where were these Mills families you mention here, Robert and Mary Carleton and sons William and Robert who wed Susanna?

I have recently read your information on the Thomas and John Mills family which came to Hardin Co, KY, in 1822. I suspect this is the family of my Elizabeth Mills who married Elisha C. Colbert. Could you tell me more. I believe Elizabeth's father was William, according to census information mid century, etc. This family, however, lived in Gallatin Co., IL, which was earlier part of KY, and when IL became a state in 1814 was split into other counties, among them Hardin, Gallatin, Pope, and White. I would really like to correspond to discover more about the Mills families you have in your data base.

Thanks for your reply. The Robert Mills in my line I think came from Ireland. His wife Mary Carleton did come from Ireland and sailed with her family about 1711. Her father died on the ship and was burried at sea. They were Quakers and lived in Chester Co Pa where Robert and Mary were married. Later moved to York Co Pa and descendents moved to Indiana and later Illinois in 1844 which is where I grew up. Although I know of some Mills families in the Carolinas, Tenn and Ga I have never been able to make a connection. I have been able to trace the Carleton line to England about 1590 but unable to locate any of Robert Mills ancestors. Do you have dates on any of the Mills line in your research? Thanks for answering. The William Mills of our family came to Gallatin and bought land in 1817, and a William Mills wed Holland Aydelotte in 1836, according to marriage records. Elizabeth Mills, who we think to be the daughter of William, married into our Colbert family to Elisha, who died during the Civil War. The family think there might be some Indian relationship there somewhere, but so far I haven't been able to find it. I have done quite a bit of research on the Mills family and find them with Browns in GA, land deeds and cemetery information in northern GA. This is where I might expect to find ties with the other families there at the time also, so these seem likely, so maybe some of this other information will help. thanks so much.

Someone else here also had information on Hardin, KY, Mills, or was that you? I think that line might very well tie into these in IL.

Where were you raised in IL, for that, too, might tell me something.

In response to Sandra_Frohock - You asked where in Ill. did I grow up. Eli Mills and his family and only some of his 10 children including Amos Mills (my great grandfather) moved from near Martinsville IN to IL, Mercer Co. about 1844. Mercer Co is about 30 miles south of Rock Island IL (the Quad Cities) and just across the Mississippi River from Muscatine IA. I hope this will help but I am not sure we can make a connection. In all the postings on this family MILLS line, says that Susanna married JENNINGS. However, one has put that she was born 1754 and married in 1763.

I really DO NOT believe that she was 9 yrs old when she got married???

I do not recall receiving a reply to my post em that I had posted earlier this year on one of the many data bases that has this family listed.

Now with DNA testing, I wonder if any one knows of a present day male MILLS descendant of this line, who might like to join the MILLS DNA Project, www.familytreedna.com under MILLS.

Does help to sort us all out of the Greater MILLS Tree from which we are fell.

Possibly the dates are typos?? or?

Regarding the marriage date of Robert Mills and Mary Carleton, it is listed as 4-16-1725 in some records list 1762. I have gone to the Quaker records and am convinced that the 1725 date is true. In the Allen Co. Library in Fort Wayne IN. Wm Wade Hinshaw list of Quaker records #219 in Kennett Monthly Meeting, Newberry twp, York Co. PA. Robert & Mary announced their intention of getting married at 3 monthly meetings as was required and then on "4-16-1725 Robert of Chester Co, Pa, m Mary Carleton of Chester Co, Pa, at Kennett MM". I also found the same information at Swathmore College and at least one other place. I believe the 1725 date because of the source and also because of the birth dates of the children.

Do you know if your Robert Mills immigrated to Canada. I am looking for the Irish roots of a William Mills who was born in Ireland and immigrated to Ontario Canada perhaps after first living in USA.
