Hi! We are cousins. My father Carl, and your brother Max were brothers. I have been working on my family lines off and on but do not have that much info on the Hard side, but I might be of some help to you. I would love to hear from you. It has certainly been a long time - about 35 years. My e-mail address is fdelcastil@aol.com.

Hard family in West Plains, Mo

David, I grew up in West Plains and my grandparents
are buried there. My cousin, Libby, emailed
you, but she had the name of our grandfather
wrong. He was called Matt, but his given name
was James Madison. See, the James name is
popular with the Hards. My uncle James Ernest
nickname "Good" is also buried there. I have
written to my Aunts, all of whom are quite old
now for names of other relatives. Libby and
I are interested in searching out the family
tree also, so I hope we can help each other.

Thanks for your E-mail. I to am searching the family roots. If you have any info on the first Hard
to set foot on this land I would be very grateful. I was told it was James Hard, that he came as a
slave on a pirate ship. He was dropped off some where in New England. I trying to find out if it is
true. Thanks again Dave Hard

James Hard the first. Was given land in the Newport, conn. area. The story we have is that James family was wiped out by the plague in England when he was a very young man. He joined the Royal Navy and in turn when his enlistment was up was awarded the land. At a family reunion we had a few year ago alot of documentation and the entire chain of Hards go back to this one man. I live in the St. Louis area and could get some information to you. Send a reply to weslyn@webtv.net
