I find the name Tellier (in 1774) to be very interesting in the PREVOST/LEDUC/VIAU(VEIO) line. I don't know if there is a connection or not but here is some data that may offer a lead in SOME! direction.

TELLIER, Edward, AUG 28, 1850-MAR 6, 1926/ Julia VEIO, his wife, JAN 14, 1855-AUG 11, 1912.

This Julia (VEIO) Tellier was the daughter of Andre (Andrew) VIAU/VIEO/ et al and Julia Anne "Lucie" LEDUC. And "Lucie's" mother was Marie Anne PREVOST.

Strange ... If I'm correct, I find PREVOST on both sides of my G-grandparents trees. There is Jean VIAU~D, married Marie Francoise PREVOST NOV 23, 1711, Montreal, Quebec. And there is Joseph LEDUC, married to Marie Anne PREVOST, probably c. 1820. And somewhere down the road a piece, VIAU married LEDUC.

I don't know what else to say except that I'm curious.

Attakapas was the name of an Indian tribe in South Louisiana and the land carried the same name. I'm unsure as to whether there was actually a town with the same name. This was close to the town of St. Martinville where the first Acadians settled after arriving by ship in New Orleans. I have a lineage that lists Eugene Sr's father's name as Pierre but I have not been able to authenticate any of it. I found it somewhere on Rootsweb and the posting person no longer has the same email for contact. I will be glad to share the information with you if you like.
