There are old sayings that were passed down in my family that must have Floyd County roots. Has anyone heard this one that is said in response to someone who quickly changed the topic of conversation?:
"A man ain't got no business drinkin' 'round a sawmill"

Or this one in response to a gift: "That's just what I was a'lookin for."

I have heard the expression "Just what I was a lookin for" all my life.
Incidentally, my great-grandmothers (2) sister was Salina Noell who married a John Webb-they lived in Franklin Co, and John (Jr. I believe) and my grandfather walked from Boones Mill to Summers Co, WVA back in the l800's.
Any information on this John Webb?

My dad would say, if I lucked into something, like catching a big fish "An old blind hog will find an acorn from time to time".
