I am looking for my father's eldest brother, born Franklin Allan 'David' on January 18, 1942. His mother was Muriel 'Jean' Annabelle Smith (nee Phillips), his father was known as Wint Smith. It has also been said that 'David's' birth father was in the war and killed, so my grandmother married Wint instead of giving up the baby right away.

Details are sketchy from the family, as my father and the other siblings were very young (ages infant to 6yrs -1 girl and 2 boys). The rest of the family I think were going through enough with death of a family member, that they don't remember much either. My granmothers father passed away January 9, 1950 and it is said that 'David' was adopted out by the end of January.

My father passed away and never had any answers despite his search so I am hoping I can continue to find answers and put the pieces together.

We do know now that David was adopted by a family in the Lambton County area and this families father owned his own company - they had 2 daughters and an adopted son. David's adoption was finalized in 1951.

Hopefully the request for information will contain everything you want and more.Do you know who handled the adoption eg..children's aid,lawyers???You might try to approuch them.
Any idea what kind of business they owned? I live in Lambton county so if you need anything looked up please let me know. The Sarnia area is fairly small the local paper here is called the Sarnia Observer if you ever wanted to place an ad in it.
