Hi;
I'm trying to get info on a half sister of
Joseph Brant. I'm told her name was Sara and
her husband was Johann Dockstader. I've found
references where he stated that John was a
brother-in-law to him. Is there anyone out there
who can help me with this???
Thanks
Karen

I don't recall if Thayendagea had a half sister.
I do know that he had sister, she was Molly Brant (her christian name was Mary Brant). She and her famous brother were named after Joseph and Mary from the Bible. She was indian-married to Sir William Johnson and produce many children from him. I do not recall that she was with another man after Johnson's death.

Hi;
I knew about that part of his life, but their
mother Margaret remarried to a man named Brant.
That's where Joseph and Molly got their last
name from. The half sister would be from this
marriage. I believe that she was still young
enough to had other children, and from what I've
been told she did.
It's just finding info on them that is the
problem.
Keep in touch.

My husband is the fourth great-grandson of Thayendanegea (Joseph Brant). Thayendanegea had a sister named Molly but she was older than Thayendanegea. Molly was born to Thayendanegea' mother, then Thayendanegea was born and his father died, then his mother remarried to Brant and that is where Molly and Thayendanegea got the last name of Brant.

We have lots of info on Thayendanegea if your looking for it. Our son is Named Christopher Alan Thayendanegea Komondy.

Hi Patricia;
Thanks for the message. I knew about the background
of Molly and Joseph, but do you have any info
on their mothers children by Brant? My ancestor John
Dockstader supposedly married a siste of Joseph by the
name of Sara. Do you have any info on this?
They had a daughter named Catherine who married Chauncey
Burnham. Hope you can help me.

Joseph Brant adopted by Nichus Brant, may have siblings

Terry Fenner  (View posts) Posted: 24 Dec 2000 3:18PM GMT

Owandah (Where-the-Bird-Sits)married Nichus Brant. Nichus was a son of the great Brant,one of the most powerful chiefs in the history of the Iroqois,went to visit Queen Anne in 1710. Nichus named his new stepchildren Joseph and Mary from the Bible. Mary would later be known as Molly.
I do not believe that Nichus and Owandah had any children together but Nichus may have had children prior to his union with Owandah.Joseph was adopted by Nichus so any other children of Nichus became siblings to Joseph.
