I am searching for the ancestors of Joel Wright, who was born about 1801 in Fairfield Township, Highland County, Ohio. He married Martha Johnson. He had a son, Ashley Johnson Wright, born 9 Mar 1827 same township. The family moved to California around 1873. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Joshua Wright and his wife Rebecca Sumner
Wright of Ohio. I believe Joel is one of their sons.

I have a Joseph H Wright in Maryland from at least 1827 through 1870. The Census lists his birthplace as Maryland but one son's death certificate list's Joseph birthplace as Ohio. That son is named Joel. I have traced Joel's movements to Iowa & Illinois, along with another brother, Jonathan. I am wondering if there is any connection with your Ohio Wrights, as the names are similiar.
