Hi, alot of west came from Bertie and Chowan co.s in north carolina. My family is traced so far to a william west b ?1755 d 1810 he had 11 children the 4th son was named Isaac West b 1790. MAy not help, but it is a family name because there isaac's in both counties . Also my ggrandfather moved to south carolina in 1860 Mathias West (he is white) records have collins township, Georgetown, land on pee-dee river , and conway he had around 11 children from 2 wives both from s.c 1st henretta ann grier and Sara (sarah) ann elizabeth cooper.if anyone can help find them that would be wonderful

There seems to be a lot of confusion. My connection is through Rueben West, son of Isaac. He married Susannah Belk. 4 west children married belk children. Looking through ancestry, people have Isaac being born in PA, SC, Va and, dying in NC, IL. His marraige to Susannah being in DE, NC. Son of John and Sarah West, son of John and other various people. But all with the same family info. Does anyone know how to separate these families, and who belongs to who.

I am trying to find a birth record for my g.g.g.grandmother, Phoebe West who married Thomas Sceles in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia in 1792. She died in 1856 at the alleged age of 85, and thus was born circa 1771. Your Phoebe, daughter of Isaac West, born in 1770, is the closest match I have found to date. Phoebe Sceles' son William's death record in 1873 gives her birthplace as "Hampton", with no state listed. It is my understanding there is a Hampton in the general vicinity of Granville. Do you have any additional information about your Phoebe West that would help me make an identification, or rule it out?

really confusing -- these Wests. Apparantly, William West and Sarah Cropper had a son Isaac. William West and Hannah Shaw also had a son Isaac. I haven't been able to varify, but it's a start. I'm looking for Isaac's son Abner. Any info on him?
