Looking for information on William Walls who
married Caroline Green in Cocke County, Tenn
in 1849
Children were
Taylor b. 1850
Elijah Edward b. 1851

Both Taylor and Caroline died Caroline abt 1852
and Taylor about 1854 or so.
I have a photo of William and the two boys when they
were very young. about 2 and 3 or so.
William looks very much like an Indian and We
have been told that he was at least 1/2. If
anyone is working on this line please let me know.
Thanks,
LaNelda

We have a Thompson Walls, b. abt 1802 in TN. No date. He went to MO, married several time, one supposed to be Cherokee. He had a son, William, too young to be yours, but there were several in MO who may have been from TN also.Seeking connections.

Do you know if your William had been married before?
Our William was the father of two boys, both born,
before 1854, the youngest was born in 1851. That
would have been my GGrandfather Elijah E. Walls.
His mother Rebecca Greeb Walls died in 1851 as well.

That is interesting. This is the information I have about my William. A cousin found him listed on 1850 Gibson Co. Tenn. census at son, age 25 of mother (widow) Catherine Walls, age 57. Listed with Richard, age 23, son, Edney Walls (F), age 21 and Amada Walls, age 20.
All are listed as being born in N.C. I have found that William A. married Rachel Hicks on 5 jan 1854, Richard m. Susan Hicks, 31 Aug 1854, Edney married John MeCullough, 14jul 1853 and Admanda married Nonod Hicks 24 Apr 1855.
(Gibson Co. Marriage Records) Family information states that William did 3/13/1890 and his wife, Catherine died in 1880's. The family relocated to Dunklin Co. Mo in the 1870's.
I do suppose that it is possible that he had two wives but divorce was uncommon and if the wife died and there were children, I would think that he and Catherine would raise them, don't you?? lynda

Taylor, died when he was about 5 years old. That would
have been 1858 and Elijah E. (My GGrandfather)
was brought to Texas by his Grandparents, Jeremiah
and Rebecca Green. William was believed to be
1/2 Indian, and there was a photo of him in
Indian dress hanging in one on my Uncles houses.
The photo is gone, no one knows what happened
to it. I do have a photo of William, that I will
be happy to e-mail, if you have on of our William
we can compare them.

I would certainly like to have a copy of that photo. E-mail is lwolfe@sidneyil.net. I am going to e-mail a cousin I have in Tennessee about your question about William being married twice. She may have more info. She has been researaching longer. I do not have a photo older than 1920 of any family member. I will also ask her if she has a photo to E-mail you. Can you give me your E-mail address? One other interesting bit of informaiton. My mother (now 85) has always said that we had indiana blood but I had never found a connection. She thought that a great grandma sometime in the past was Indian. Another connection with my Walls family is the Hicks. I wonder if they moved from N.C. together because my Walls were listed with the Mary Hicks' family in the 1850 census and several of her children married members of the Hicks' family. Lynda

William's Sister Harriett Jane Walls

Classification: Query
Surnames: Walls, Green
I have recently discovered my connection to this family. I see that these posts are some years old and would love to know of any new information or of any sources on this information.

My mother was adopted at an early age. We discovered her parentage and fould her grandmother to be Lula Rainey O'Neal (and variations of this name). I am certain her parents were Doctor Franklin O'Neal and Harriett Teney Green.

Harriett Green's parents were Elijah Henry Green and Harriett Jane Walls. I am told that Elijah's sister, Caroline Emaline Green, married Harriett's brother, William Walls. I have the source documentation on the Green family including census records down to Lula and her children (my grandparents). What I am missing is proof of the Walls family.

The story goes that a Mr Walls married a Native American named Nicameah and had two children: my Harriet Jane Walls and your William Walls. The father was killed by indians as hostilities were breaking out after the Trail of Tears(1838-1839). Soon after, Caroline (1852) and her oldest child, Taylor Walls (1858), died also. Taylor's younger brother was taken with the rest of the Green family to Texas to avoid being raised on a reservation. (William remarried and moved to Arkansas.) They were in Comanche Peak, Johnson County, Texas in 1860 (pages 41 and 43).

Some websites I have found this information are:

http://www.geocities.com/trish32507/Green5.html
http://www.cemeteries-of-tx.com/Wtx/Hall/Walls.html

Does anyone have new news?
