I have a death certificate of my 2nd great grandfather, Joseph Vansickle, who died in 1915 in Adair County Missouri. His parents are listed as John Vansickle and Ellen Silverington (cannot make it out, hard to read). His son-in-law, C J Redix, Cornelius J. Redix is my great grandfather. The gentleman on the LDS site, familysearch.org, was correct.

I am sorry I am posting a reply to my own post but I believe that my great grandfather was incorrect in the spelling of his father-in-laws mother, Ellen Silverington. I believe it to be Swearingen, which sounds somewhat like Silverington. I have been unable to find any Silverington families that come close to this Ellen.

John William Vansickle [VanSickel, ctc] is reported to have married Ellen Swearingen in Harrison County, OH on 26 May 1827. Their first born, Gabriel is reported to have been born in Coshocton County, OH in 1832.
In the 1850 census the family is found in Liberty, Jefferson County, Iowa and then also included Gabriel's brother Joseph and sisters Margaret and Mary. The head of family is recorded as Jno Van Sicle age 46 born in NY (although probably should read born in NJ) Ellen is recorded as age 48 and born in PA. The children all born in OH.
John is reported to have died in 1859.
Was your Joseph (recorded as born in IN) residing (with his first wife?) in Morgan County, IN in the 1870 census?
I suspect that the "Elenor Vansickel" residing in Ray, Morgan County, IN in the 1870 census is John's widow, then residing with her married daughter Margaret.
This John is reported as of the 7th generation in descent from the immigrant Ferdinandus Van Sicklen who came to New netherland in 1653 and raised his family on Long Island.
I know that there are several researchers out there who trace thier own ancestry through John & Ellen eldest son.
