I believe I have some information for you about the Vansickle family from Athens County Ohio who relocated to Greenup Kentucky.I found guardianship papers this summer for the three minor children of Susan Vansickle Juniper.John Hiram, George W and Thomas Z Vansickle. They can be found in 1860 in Trimble Township, Athens County Ohio. The papers were served 21 June 1876. I believe by the 1880 census you can find Susan Juniper, John, George and Thomas in Greenup, Kentucky. Could your James be a brother to them?..Joyce

My Great grandmother was Susie Juniper Vansickle and her parents were James Vansickle Athens, Ohio and Marilla Barnhart. They moved to greenup county, ky.

Susie married Ed Broughton.

Maybe we are related! I hope so, I need help.

I think my Vansickle branch if from a different part of the country, and I don't have your names in my database. But keep searching; I have found lots of good information on ancestry.com in the past.

I am doing a major research project on this surname and am currently researching this branch. I found very little thus far, but if I am correct, your great-grandmother, Susie, was first married to a Mr. William WATKINS.

My interest is to tie James Vansickle successfully to a family in Ohio. If I find his ancestry, I'll be sure to let you know.

I was aware of James Vansickles first wife Nancy Calintine and I figured that My great grandmother Susie Vansickle Broughton AKA Cricket was previously married and I knew of possibly one daughter Ethel Wadkins married to Edward "Ned" Broughton.

I can believe this to be true now, both Ethel and Ned were half siblings to my grandfather Leonard Broughton and his brothers John Daniel and Elbert "Bud". My great uncle Elbert "Bud" Broughton is still living so i'll have to call him and see if he remembers anything. He was young when Susie passed, so I pick his brain every now and then.

I have a marriage record for George Juniper and Susan Vansickle dated 11 January 1863. In the 1870 census for Trimble Township, Athens County, Susan Juniper is living with her three sons John, Thomas and George along with her neice Mary. It looks like George Juniper died befor 1870. As I stated before I found guardianship papers filed by Susan Juniper on behalf of her minor children John Hiram, George W and Thomas Z.The papers were served 21 June 1876.This must have been right before they moved to Greenup Ky.and they sold property. Does this sound right? Is James Vansickle Susan's husband? If so he must have died prior to 1863 when she married George Juniper. I am interested however in a John Vansickle who married Ellen Freasure and can be found in Trimble Twsp. Athens County in 1860. Are they related to James?...Joyce
