Hi My name is Marlene Valencia i have recently become intrigued about my roots and where my last name comes from. I would like to get more information on my family history. My Family is from Tamazula, Jalisco but have family in Guadalajara as well. Most of my dad's brothers and sisters now live in California. My fathers name is Humberto Valencia and my grandfather's name was Gildardo Valencia. He had 7 children with my grandmother Matilde Rodriguez. From talking to my dad the other day he was able to tell me that my great great grandfather came from Spain with 2 other brothers. He believes that on of the brothers was in Jalisco and that's the Valencia's that i came from and that another of the brothers some how ended up in michuacan. The third brother not sure where he ended up but we have believed that there is also valencia's in Baja mexico that could be related to the family. after reading other posts i think i need to give you more information. my husbands family is from jocotepec. his name is jorge valencia son of palemon valencia and catalina valentin. palemon's parents names are maximiliano valencia and luz ramirez. maximiliano had 10 kids. i hope that helps!

Harold E. Valencia Passed peacefully on March 6, 2009. Born December 27, 1932, to Ramon and Stella Valencia in El Rancho, he resided in his beloved El Rancho and in Santa Fe most of his life. He was a generous and caring son, brother, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his father Ramon; infant siblings, Ramon and Erlinda; siblings, Philly Joe Valencia and Ida A. Ortiz; and Ida's husband Thomas Z. Ortiz. He was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Robert G. Reed. He is survived by his mother, Stella; his wife, Betty Rivera Valencia; son, Harold Valencia and his wife Loretta and their sons, Phillip and Marcus; daughter, Regina Valencia and her husband Doug Egli and their children, Katharine and Michael; and daughter Marguerite Valencia-Reed and her daughters, Elizabeth and Amy. He is also survived by siblings: Flavio Valencia (wife Pita), Fernando Valencia (wife Araceli), Yolanda Apodaca (husband Reuben) and Dolores Valencia Tanno; as well as by many relatives in the extended Valencia and Rivera families. He graduated from Pojoaque High School and holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the College of Santa Fe. He served in the United States Army with the Corps of Engineers from 1954 to 1956. He also attended the National Defense University War College in Washington, D.C. and the Federal Executive Institute. He was a member of the Federal Senior Executive Service and a former member of the College of Santa Fe Board of Trustees and New Mexico Independent College Fund. His career was one of civil service having served in administrative positions in city, state, and federal governments. He culminated his career as Area Manager for Operations for the Department of Energy in Los Alamos, New Mexico and retired in 1989. He was an active member of the St. Francis Cathedral for 48 years. A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from 9- 9:45 a.m. at St. Francis Cathedral, followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Internment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in Harold's name. Aurelia P. Marquez, age 72, of Tucumcari, NM formally of Anton Chico passed away on Saturday, February 14, in Amarillo, TX following a sudden illness. She was born May 22, 1936 in Anton Chico to the home of Fidel and Aurelia (Valencia) Cordova.

Aurelia married Isidro Marquez of Tucumcari. She was a homemaker and loved watching her novellas on TV. She retired from the Presbyterian Hospital in Denver where she worked for many years. Aurelia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother(sic) Juanita V. Perea, an infant daughter and her brother; Pablo Valencia.

Survivors include her husband Isidro Marquez of Tucumcari, two daughters; Lorraine Maestas and husband Jenaro of Anton Chico; Liz McKinney and husband Kenny of Tucumcari, a brother; Remigio Cordova and sister Lizbe Otero. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Tania, Keith, Francesca, Abraham, Berna, Monica, Matt, Chris, Crystal, Michelle and 12 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and many friends.

Rosary services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, at 6:30 PM from St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM; a second rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 18, at 6:00 PM from St. Joseph Church in Anton Chico. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 19, at 11:00 AM from St. Joseph Church with Father Antonio Mondragon officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Anton Chico.

Serving as Pallbearers will be; Tania Maestas, Keith Maestas, Matthew McKinney, Christoper McKinney, Abraham Maestas, Aaron Maestas, Monica Maestas and Jordan Maestas.

Pablo M. Valencia, age 99, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Anton Chico on May 1, 2005. Pablo was born January 24, 1906 in La Loma, NM to the home of Anastacio and Rafaelita Montoya Valencia. He married Leonor Gomez on January, 1955 in Anton Chico. Pablo was a longtime cattle and sheep rancher. He worked as a rancher in Villanueva, Gallisteo and the Juan de Dios area. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico. At 99 years of age, Pablo was still active in his daily life. He was still seen outside of his residence cutting weeds and playing with his great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leonora Valencia, grandson; Diego Velasquez, Brothers; Gregorio Valencia, Giberto Valencia and Manuel Valencia, his Sister; Juanita Perea. Survivors include his son's Ricardo Valencia and wife Agnes of Santa Rosa and Jerry Gonzales and wife Yolanda of Santa Rosa, his daughter Ana Valencia de Velasquez and husband Pablo of La Loma, grandchildren; Karmen Velasquez, Sara Lopez, and Valeria Gonzales, great grandchildren, Francisco Romero, Romeo Romero, Jacquelyn Romero and Ana Maria Lopez. Also surviving is his sister Aurelia Marquez and husband Isidro of Tucumcari as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be recited on Monday, May 2, 2005 at 7:00 from St. Joseph Church in Anton Chico. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 3, at 11:00 AM, also from St. Joseph Church with Father Patrick Dufy officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Anton Chico. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.

I don’t know much and my Mother won’t speak to me of my father so that’s why I’m here writing to those that might be able to help.
My father Ramon Valencia was born in Obregon Sonora to Vidal Valencia and Maria Zubiran, years later they migrated to Jamay Jalisco were he meet my mother and married. In those times my mother was 14 years and he was 22 years of age and yet married her. This is all I know and I am curios of knowing more.
I will like to know if he remarried and has any children as well as to know if his parents still live and were they are located. Any information will be highly appreciated.

My father's name was J. Pedro Balensia (misspelling on his birth certificate for Valencia) He lives in Louisiana and I live in Texas.

He was born in Angao, Michoacan near Huetamo, which borders Guerrero. My grandfather was Getrudes Valencia and grandmother was Maria Penalosa-Rodriguez from Arroyo Grande, Guerrero, which is close to both Altamirano and Cutzamala, Guerrero. That is about all I know.

Hey,
I have some family living in the United States and I've also got family back in San Salvador, El Salvador.
My mother's name is Claudia Mirely Valencia, her mother's name is Aracely Valencia- and I believer that my grandma's dad was named Bacilio Valencia (Basillio?).
I think my mom was born in Soyapango, she always mentions it- but I'm not sure. I was born in San Salvador and moved to Los Angeles, California when I was three and half.

Antonio "Tony" Valencia
REDDING- Tony, 80, was born September 10, 1927, in Pecos, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Mercy Hospital of natural causes.

Tony worked 10 years in broadcasting and as a sales representative. He retired after 22 years as a clerk and carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.

Tony was a member of many organizations including: St. Joseph's Catholic Church; The Knights of Columbus 3rd & 4th Degree Past Grand Knight and Past Faithful Navigator; The American Legion; and the Riverview Golf & Country Club. He was also a member and past board member of the Redding Elk's Lodge. He served in the U.S. Army in the M.P. detachment from August 1946 to February 1948.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna, and daughters Sharon Reed and Brenda Valencia. He is also survived by four grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters and many nephews and nieces.

The viewing and the rosary will be at McDonald's Chapel. The viewing will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the rosary at 7:30 p.m., both on Wednesday, January 30, 2008. The services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at St. Joseph's Church, with a brunch following.

One of Martha Ramirez Dendy - mother - Josefina Valencia of Guadalajara - one of her brothers who went to California was named Paul. Her siblings who came to Houston, Texas were Marie who married Albert Whistler; brother Joe Ramirez; Mary Vaeza. She had several siblings who stayed in Mexico. Her eldest sister's name was Elena. Martha Ramirez married Thomas Milton Dendy around 1922. She left Mexico around 1919 or 1920.
