Haave read mentions of Douty Utter having been a senator from the state of Ohio, but been unable to confirm this. Any info out there at all?

Douty Utter was my greatgrandfather. I have also heard he was a state senator. My sister and cousin have been doing the research on the Utter family.
The name in our line died with Douty's only son, Leonard, who had 4 daughters. Douty also had 2 daughters, one of which was my grandmother, Alice Maude Utter, who married Basil Morgan Thomas. The other daughter was Emma Utter Norris, who had no children.
Alice Maude and Basil Morgan Thomas had 4 sons, one of which was my father, Chester R. Thomas.
I believe Douty and his wife are buried in the old cemetery on 1st ave. in Middletown, Ohio.
Middletown is where I was born. We know Douty is a decendant of Nicholas Utter. Jan, my sister, has most of that history. If she has ever been able to confirm Douty being a state senator, I have not heard about it.
I also hadn't heard he was a Colonel???? My dad did say he was a mean ole cuss..........and his wife was a sweetheart.
My dad, Chester R. Thomas, died 2 years ago at 93 years of age. His remaining brother, Herbert, died in March 2000 at the age of 97.
If you wish, my sister could probably help you more than I. She lives in Franklin, Ohio. Let me know. My e-mail is: jettydav@aol.com June Thomas Davis
