Have you tried the NYGenweb? I've stumbled on to several lines. Mostly in counties along the PA boarder. It seems alot of Utter went to the North Central states from NY. At this point I am researching Electa Utter, born in the mid 1800s. She is not connected to my line, yet.

Hi Lisa

Yes, David Utter in Beardstown is my cousin.
We are still in touch. My grandfather was
Roy Arthur Utter, son of John David. My
father is John William Utter, now residing
in Salina Kansas. David's father, my Uncle Don, is also still residing in Beardstown. I vaguely remember visiting Joh David Utter when I was very young. Roy Utter died in 1963 . I believe. I have not heard from my brother Tim for several months. A few years ago, before internet times, he had researched family history to a great extent. I am still trying to locate hime again.
Thank you and keep in touch. There are Utters throughout phone books at many locations in southern Illinois, yet I have very little information regarding any connections.

I understand he found his birth father in the San Francisco area in the 40's.My father's name as I knew it was Robert William DeLaneo. He also used the middle name of Elwood or Ellwood. He was born Kalamazoo, MI June 25 in 1908 or 1912. Any help would be very much appreciated.

This is my uncle that you are inquiring about
I remember him talking about a daughter in
California and I knew he use DeLano as another name. He is my mothers brother. He was born June 25, 1912 in Kalamazoo at 8 lbs.
His fathers name was Lloyd Elwood Utter and
his mother's name way Mamie Irene Cuyler.
In our great-grandmothers record's it also
records a son born to my uncle Robert E. Utter Jr. May 18, 1932. Also a daughter was
born to your father and Maridell Utter around
l946-47 she was named Patricia (Trica) and lived in the Stockon Ca. area last I knew.
My mother passed away 4 years ago and I believe if you look on Social Security records you'll find where Robert passed away.
There is so much more I can tell you about
your father background. We live in the High
Point, NC area.

Thank you so much for your reply. Have been searching for him under the name DeLaneo for years - this explains our dead ends. Knew I had a half sister named Patricia, but thought it was DeLaneo. The social security death index lists a Robert Utter died in the 70's. My information is he was alive in 1993 in the Pasadena, CA area. Have located the wife of his son born May 18, 1932 - he died late 80's. Would love to exchange all other information. My e-mail is pafield@mindspring.com. I live in the Boston area.

My husband, Robert Webb DeLaneo, (dob May 18, 1933) was the son of Robert William DeLaneo, aka Robert Ellwood Utter. Robert Webb DeLaneo died February 9, 1983 in Nashua, N.H. Pat Field and I have been searching, as you are aware, for a Robert William DeLaneo. My former Mother-In-Law, who was married to Robert William DeLaneo, said he was adopted and his real name was Robert Ellwood Utter, dob, June 25, 1908. We are living in West Virginia and plan on a trip in June to California and would like to locate Pat's sister. Can we exchange addresses and phone numbers? Thanks for this connection.
