My Gr Gr grandfather was Wesley Tomlin who was born in Newton Co, GA in 1825. His parents were William and Mary Tomlin. He had a brother named Jonathan Tomlin who was born in Union Co, SC in 1816 (?). Jonathan married Rosanna Hyatt in Oglethorpe Co, GA. He also had sisters named Amanda (who married WIlliam Wakefield in GA and moved to CarbonHIll, Walker Co, AL ) and Sarah Ann (who married Martin Hill in GA and moved to Cleburne Co, AL.
Wesley married Sarah Jane Elizabeth Hyatt, who was born in Anson, NC. Their daughter was Amanda and married John Cade Williams in Holly Grove, Walker Co, AL. They were my Gr grandparents.
I don't have my records in front of me right now, but if any of these names sound familiar to you, I'll be happy to look up my records and see what else I can find about them.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

HI, I am pretty sure that my wife is a descendant of the Mary F. listed in the 1880 Census in Cullman County along with Elijah & Talitha Mathews. I would like to share info with you if possible. Thanks. David

Julia Ann Tomlin b. abt. 1842 in SC. Julia md. 1860 in Paulding Co., Ga. to John D. Turner. Julia indicates thru census information that both her parents were born in South Carolina. She if found in Blount Co., Ala. census in 1900 I believe she has died before 1920. Is it possible Julia is daughter of William and Mary Tomlin

Hello Laura,

Jean Collins passed away in January 2003. She did indeed have a connection to your same Tomlin line. She was a descendant of my great grandmother's sister, both daughters of Matilda Talitha (Tomlin) Matthews.

I believe, you & I corresponded a couple of years ago. We discussed DNA testing for genealogical purposes. I shared with you about having had a full sequence mtDNA & that my mtDNA was from our Mary Unknown, wife of William Tomlin, because, I am a direct female to female descendant of Mary's.

I'm curious if any direct male descendants of our Tomlin line has been DNA tested. Do you know if anyone has been DNA tested?
