Hi, My Name is Robert (Bob) Berzley, and I am a decendant of William Tanner, b. July 3, 1660, in England and came to the coloneys around 1678 as a cabin boy on a ship from England and settled in Rhode Island. My linage is, William, Nathan (Sr), Nathan (Jr), Thomas, Solomon b. NY., Judson b. Michigan., Henry b. Michigan., Elsie Emma Tanner b. Michigan, who was my mother.. I can prove (I believe) back to my 2nd Great-Grandfather Solomon Tanner.

But I would like to prove back from Solomon to Thomas Tanner(I have Thomas's Birth certificate), and also prove back from Thomas to Nathan Jr.

But as New York did not require Vital Records be kept until 1914, I cannot find a record of Birth for Solomon to prove relationship to Thomas.

And, to make matters worse, except for Thomas Tanners Birth certificate saying Elizabeth Foster was Thomas's mother, every record I have been able to find states, Elizabeth Thurston was the wife of Nathan Tanner Jr... Which as far as I can determine was his 2nd marriage.

If anyone has any information to help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
