Dear Larry,
MY family came over from Denmark in the late 1800's... (have no clue exactly when) - my great-grandfather went by the name of
Jens Sorensen and was a sea captain of a passenger vessel that came back and forth from
Copenhagen to
New York. My great-grandmother went by the name of
Hanne Jensen (maiden) and then obviously married to become
Hanne Sorensen - she was also from
Copenhagen and was on my Great-Grandfather's ship when they met. She came over to
America as an indentured servant - and was only 17. My great-grandfather was in his early 30's... they met as I said on the trip over here and fell in love; and as soon as they docked in
New York, he proceeded to buy out her indenturement and married her...
From there - they lived in brooklyn and then in Long Island and had 3 children... the only one that I am familiar with is my grandfather, Henry
Lincoln Sorensen (father's dad). I know he had a sister and the third sibling i have no reconciliation of.
I am very into developing my family tree and obtaining any information that may help me do so... If you have anything that may help me.. or in some small way may be related.. please email me. =)
I thank you in advance for anything that you may help me with and wish you the best...
Suzanne
