Re: Raymond Richard Sorensen
Hello Andrea I was just led to your inquiry on Ancestry.com and having only recently joined I am a little illiterate in all that I can pull up. I believe I am your other half-aunt as you referred to Carol. Your information is not absolutely correct and these are the facts. Raymond Richard Sorensen as I know him was born Jan. 4, 1903 in New York City. However, I have recently tried to obtain a birth certificate but was told there was none. Part of the problem was that on the 1910 and 1920 censuses the name given was Risager (his father's middle name I believe.) He had an older sister Ethel that I've found mention of who was born in Copenhagan and both his parents Soren R. and Augusta were born in Copenhagan.
Raymond Richard was my father and died on my sister Carol's 4th birthday - May 10, 1946. He is buried in Riverhurst Cemetery in Endicott, New York. He was indeed a chef. He married my mother on Jan. 22, 1940 and together they have two daughters, me - Patricia Katherine and my sister Carol Jeanne who lives in Hawaii.
Mom and Dad met at the diner where she worked in Endicott, NY and he had come from NYC to work as the chef. After they married they bought the diner after my younger sister was born. Dad became ill shortly thereafter and suffered a long illness before his death. Was your mother's name Elizabeth? I know that he was previously married and indeed had a daughter Beverley and a son Raymond, Jr. I have searched for Beverley on line as well as Ray, Jr. but I believe that they are both deceased now. I understand that Beverley was adopted by someone in Canada in her teens, or at least that is the info I was told. She, in fact, has visited my sister Carol in Hawaii but that was many years ago and I believe her married name was Garrett.
As for the siblings of Raymond Richard, my father they are:
Ethel, William, Augusta, Christian, Gertrude (aka Rite)and Daisy.
Please feel free to contact me at pluckel@bellsouth.net rather than through this message board. I haven't figured out how to extract messages yet. Look forward to hearing from you soon. I am very excited. Pat Sorensen Luckel
