Seeking data about ancesters of Peter Henry Snyder b. 1824 in Trafalgar Twp, Halton Co., Ontario, Canada. Married Eliza Grigg in Blenheim Twp, Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada in 1848. Migrated to the United States to Michigan twice about 1853 and then again in 1868, settled in Ionia Co first and then finally in Manistee Co. Michigan. Children included: Amelia, Sanford, Janette, Lavina, Mary, Henrietta, Sara, Charles, Emma, Ida. Seeking information about Peter Henry's father, Jacob and any siblings, probably Savilla (Sprague) and John C. Snyder (had children, Leonard and Homer, I think) I am a descendent of Charles Snyder, son of Peter.

Hello, i am a Snyder and I wonder if we are related. Do you know if your family came from Holland before they went to Canada? Because my grandpa lived in Canada after he came from there. The dutch spelling is Snijder. My grandpas name was Harry. I really don't remember his parents names.

My Canadian Snider ancestors consisted of TWO lines: one from Savilla Snider, daughter of Catherine Russel and Michael Snider. There is information that they were Dutch and that the first families only spoke Dutch or Flemish early in the colonial US and in Canada. Savilla Snider about 1820 married Jacob Snider in Canada. BOTH his and her families spelled their names with the Dutch spelling of Snider. We have no information about them prior to the late 1700's.
