Hi, I am formally a Sier, grew up in Monrovia, Md. Your grandfather's name sounds familiar, what was your mother or father's name? My grandfather was Leroy Upton Sier, he passed around 1977, may have been related somehow, I could ask my father for you. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sier Family

Hi Rita:

I am sure that we are related. My mother's name is Betty Sier (Nipper is her married name). Our branch of the Sier family grew up in Mount Airy/Ijamsville. My grandfather had a few sisters, but I can't remember their names. They have been estranged from the family for years. He had 3 brothers, Norman, Tom, James. My mom has 9 brothers and sisters. Too many to list. Are you any relation to George Sier of Monrovia? Somehow along the line, George Sier is my cousin. (I'm not sure exactly how though.) Anyway, I would love to hear from you! Post here or you can e-mail me at bonbon210@earthlink.net Wow, I am excited that I have finally found someone with info on the Sier's. It's been a long time since I originally posted! Looking forward to hearing you soon.

but never got a reply, so I thought maybe you didn't get it. Here's what I sent to you:Bonnie,
I talked to my dad tonight and he knows of Norman, and the others, he believes that they are 2nd or 3rd cousins somwhow, but George Sier is his 1st cousin, my 2nd. My dad's dad's name was Leroy Upton Sier and he had 2 brothers that I know of, Howard and Albert Sier. My dad'd dad and his brother Albert married 2 sisters, my grandfather married Nellie Braille (Sier) and my great-uncle Albert married Beatrice, she drove a school bus for many years for Green Valley and New Market Middle, she passed away in 1992, and my Uncle Albert passed away in 1997. My grandad, Leroy, passed in 1977, when I was just in kindergarden, and my great-unlce Howard soon after him.

I am living in NC now, so are my parents, my grandmother, Nellie, is still alive, she is the only grandparent I have left on either side. She lived in Monrovia until her last stroke in 1989, which left her partially disabled, and she now is in a nursing home. I am planning on heading up there in December to visit, I have a brother as well still in MD.

My great uncle Albert and Beatrice had 2 sons, my 2nd cousins, Kevin and Jeff Sier, they still live in the house in Monrovia where my great uncle Albert, his wife Beatrice, and unlce Howard lived in when they were still with us.

My grandaddy and grandma Nellie had 4 children, Roy Lee (my dad), Roland Lee, Ronnie Lee, and Rebecah Lee Sier (we all had initials RLS , it was planned that way, atleast until us grandchildren got married and ruined it, lol)

My brothers name is Roy Lee Sier, Jr., and mine was Rita Lynnette Sier (now Frickman).

I hope you can follow all of this, as I am typing as I am trying to remember it all. I asked my dad about your mom, and he said he could remember a Betty Sier, but he thought that her name was now Betty Morgan, living in Frederick. (not sure if it's the same one)

Anyway, I am 28 years old, I grew up in Monrovia, my grandparents lived on the corner of Weller Rd and Lynnburke Rd, and Albert and Beatrice right next to them on the hill, in a brown house.

We lived on LynnBurke rd, and I went to school in the area until we moved right when I was to start high school, we moved to the Boonsboro area, Washington County.

I am going to give you a link to look at my little family, my hubby and me and our kids. It's the "shoebox" album, the other 2 albums on the page are from my nephew Michael and sister-in-law in Michigan.

I hope you gained a little more info on what I mentioned, I do know that there are alot of us Sier's out there, especially in that area, and I don't even know half of them I'm sure, but I belive we are all related somehow!!

Well, here's the link http://communities.msn.com/FrickmanFamily Just cut and paste and GO! Let me know what you think!

Thanks and I look forward to hearing back from ya, I gotta run and wash my dishes now, but I will be back on later tonight. (you should get AOL instant messanger and download it and get your self a screen name so we can chat, my screen name is RitaGita)

Later!

Rita

Dear Bonnie,

I saw your messages and had to mail you because I am also trying to search for the Sier family history. My father, Gilbert Sier, had family from the Frederick/Ijamsville area. I have gotten so far but have had a hard time getting additional information.

I did learn of some Siers who came over from Eastern Europe, and I am trying to see if my family is connected to that family.

Thank you in advance for any information you may have to share.

Rebekah

Hi Rebekah:

I haven't really found a whole lot of information out about my Sier family. I'm sure that you have found as well that it is extremely difficult. I am sure, however, that someone you, me and Rita are related. Most of the Sier's in Frederick and Carroll County are related. Please feel free to e-mail me, maybe we can figure it out.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I have information on the Sier family. My grandmother was a "Sier" so I have some data I can share. Many Siers in the Frederick/Carroll County region are descended from Joseph Benjamin Sier (ca 1846-1933). Joseph was married to Sarah Louisa Ford (1850-1941) and they had 9 children, 7 of whom lived to adulthood. Maynard Sier was a child of Joseph's son, Claude Daniel Sier (ca 1880-1936). I will be glad to respond by e-mail to any inquiries. Glad to hear of your interest in this family.

Wow, I can't believe that anyone has information on the family. It seems that everyone worked on the railroad, which makes it difficult to even start when searching SSDI. Like I said, Maynard was my grandfather. He was killed in 1968 in a railroad accident. My grandmother is very ill and not expected to live much longer, so your information is very timely. I would love to receive any information you may have. The names of Joseph's other children and their children's names, if you have them. I really appreciate your response! Thank you! Please e-mail at bon@direcpc.com.
