Looking for my family

I have just recently started researching my family history since my GGM passed away. There was an old legend she used to tell that I wanted to prove or disprove. Instead, I ended up finding out that I have a LOT of family out there. I would really like to connect with other descendants of the Shows line. I assume I am part of Cornelius's line because I spent every Thanksgiving as a child in Jones Cty, Mississippi. My GGM was Mildred Cole Shows. I don't know her husband's name, he passed before I was born. My grandfather is FC Shows, and he has a sister named Linda and had a brother that we always called "Sonny." I have no idea what his real name was.

I have been looking for printed information or a family tree to help me figure out how we are connected and most of the links on this message board no longer work. If there is anyone out there who can help me, I would appreciate it. Thank you!

My records indicate Wanda Josephine Shows married Bobby Fife. Wanda's parents were Albert Monroe Shows and Mattie Mae Meadows. Albert's parents were Pascal Monroe Shows and Alma Fortenberry. Unfortunately I did not record my source for this information but maybe it will point in the right direction.
Hope this helps!
Jim Riley

I see that you are related through Cornelius Holmes Shows Jr. & Elizabeth Sumrall. Perhaps you can help me. One of their daughters was Mary Jane Shows, who married Joseph Josiah Beech and had several children. Joseph's brother was my great-grandfather. I have seen information on a Family Tree at Ancestry that says that Mary Jane's sister Martha was also married to Joseph Josiah (Siah?) Thing is, they were concurrent. One didn't die and he married her sister, they both had children by him during the same time period. I found Martha in a census as Martha Shows with her children, listed as Shows, and her mother Elizabeth Shows. The next census, I found two of the boys who were still living listed as Beech. Any knowledge of this?? Surprises me a little since Mary Jane and Martha were sisters, but Aaron had 2 children by another woman and his wife (my Granny Beech) cared for them a while. Then he left Granny Beech and he & the "other woman" & their children moved about 75 miles away and changed their names! Before he died, he contacted some of his children, so my family knows the story and where they were. Another interesting thing is that Martha was buried at the Primitive Baptist Church cemetery that's about 3 miles (south?) out of Ellisville. That's where Joseph's mother Sallie Parker Beech & his sister & brother-in-law are buried! Joseph & Mary Jane are buried at Pilgrim Cemetery, I've been told.
Would like any information you could share.

Newsom Shows Jr and others in the family

I have found several old photos of Newsom Jr and siblings, as well as tons of his time in the war. Of course most of them do not identify anyone. I'm making educated guesses based on family resemblence. Anyway, is there anyone interested in copies of them? Over the next year (I'm being realistic here because in a perfect world it would be a couple of weeks but I have a 6 year old and school is beginning in two weeks, so it'll be a year) I'm going to scan all of these pictures, so I can either mail a copy of the disk when I'm done, or attach it as a file (if I develop the computer savy to do so) . Also I need help identifying people. I can pick out Newsom Jr, but his sisters and brothers get kind of iffy. Plus I think I have photos of family from Norval's time god help me there.
I am a descendant of Martha Ann Shows and William L Liles (both surnames spelled any possible way they can be)

Martha was born 25 Aug 1834 (Montgomery Co, AL) to Henry Warren Shows and Charlotte Taylor. Martha married William Liles 15 May 1852 in Butler Co. and after Williams death she married George Wyatt Clark 17 Feb 1859 also in Butler Co. I have a picture of "Grandma Clarkie" with her corncob pipe.

Who are you looking for in particular? Have you tried Tresa's Shows web site?

Good Hunting
Doris

Thomas W. Shows/Showers of Caddo Parish, Louisiana

I'm seeking information about the family of Thomas Shows, born 1858 near Blanchard in Caddo Parish, LA. I have been told he may have changed the spelling of his name to Showers. In the 1900 census his name was spelled Showers.

He married Carrie Hull in 1887. According to the census they had these children: Lula, Lena, Jodie, Fern (all girls) and Doswell. The gravestone of Carrie Showers is in the Blanchard cemetery, she died in 1901. I can't find them in the Caddo census after that. I did find a SSDI record for Doswell Shows who died in 1963 in Louisiana.

I will be happy to share data about the ancestors of Thomas Shows if I can contact any descendants. Any help will be appreciated.
I am looking for additional information of Eleanora Jane Easterling, daughter of William Easterling and Elizabeth Laird, who was born in 1819 and probably died about Oct 1862. She married John R Shows on or about 7 Jan 1840 in Jones Co, MS. Does anyone know where Eleanora is buried and/or the exact date of her death? Some of the Shows family lived in the Strengthford Community of Wayne Co, MS. If you have any information, please reply.

I have information on the Easterling/Busby/Shows/Mozingo connections.

Wanda L Busby
Laurel, MS

Hi Peggy,
saw your post and am interested in the Eggerston name. I had an Aunt who left England before WW2 and settled in Baltimore with a Dan Eggerston/Eggerstson?
I remember seeing a Newspaper cutting from MD around 1954--ish! when he was "shot to Death" at work by a Crazed Gunman?
My Aunt later relocated in CA and married. She died there on 25/12/1996.
Despite searching i don't seem able to find anything on Dan?
I was wondering if he may have had any connections to your line?
Cheers,
Steve
