Shotton's in Northumberland

I am researching my family's tree and I am trying to find out some informtion about the Shotton family from Longhoughton and their decendants. I am particulary interested in George Shotton (b1861) married to Isabel Jackson. They had 5 children, Margaret Elizabeth Shotton (b1890 Felton), Robert Edmund Shotton (b1891 Felton), Annie Bertha Shotton (b1895 Felton), Gertrude Mary Shotton (b 1905 Prudhoe) and one unknown but as at 1911 census was alive. Robert Edmund Shotton died in WW1 and I have been researching this. My guesses are (from FreeBMD and Ancestry) that Margaret may have married Alexander Buck, Anie may have married an Adams and Gertrude may have married a Cole but these are pure guesses.
The last details I have (1911 census and 1917 record of Robert's death) show them living at West Lodge, Prudhoe Hall, Prudhoe-on-Tyne.
Any information anyone has would be gratefull appreciated, including information on Robert (b1806)and Mary Shotton from Longhoughton!
Sharon
With regards to your George Shotton, it is likely that he was the father to my late fathers cousin John.If your George was married to my Great Aunt SarahAnnie Devlin, then he had three children before they divorced and both I believe remarried.
All the best, Pat Devlin

I have a 16mm movie of a wedding between James Brown and Sandra Shatten which was found left behind in an apartment in Evaston, Illinois. The wedding was 10 June 1956, held at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, and the service is Jewish. The movie is in color and is in excellent condition. I would love to return it to the family. Please email me at sandyseashore@hotmail.com if this is your family.

Shotton / Shatton in Scotland

Thomas SHATTON was born abt 1732. He married Betty BRASH abt 1770, certainly in the broad Edinburgh / Lothians, probably in West Lothian, possibly Dalmeny. The couple settled in Betty Brash's 'home town' of Abercorn WLN, farming there for many years at Duntarvie and Totleywells. The SHOTTON spelling did turn up, amongst others. But the surname evolved, first to CHATTIE and finally by 1850s to CHATHAM.

The only people I've come across as candidate parents are John SHATTON and Jane BULLINGALL: they married 22 Jun 1732 in Rotterdam!

Anyone know of possible strays from Northumberland that might fit the bill?

My maternal grandfather was born in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear. The trail I have points back to Tynemouth, on the North sea, east of Newcastle. Newcastle was the sight of a history changing battle between the London landlords and the northern folks. Newcastle lost & lost their monopoly on coal shipping. The English royals gave the rights to Sunderland. The Shotton trail moves to Sunderland with business. Other places shottons show up is near Hadrians wall in southern Northumberland (Durham). There was another north-south battle there some 40 odd years later. It would beena keen survival move to high-tail out of there. It would be my guess that's how some Shottons ended up in Staffordshire which would be south west of the Hexham area. Etc,,
