Burlington, VT. — Norma R. Shay, 76, of Birchwood Terrace Healthcare, Burlington, Vt., and formerly of Keeseville, died Tuesday, April 4. 2000, at her home.

She was born in Keeseville on Sept. 13, 1923, the daughter of Leonard and Mildred (Signor) Boule. Norma’s mother died when she was a young girl and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lesperance raised her and her siblings.

She was the valedictorian for the Keeseville High School class of 1941. Norma worked as a secretary at the AuSable Valley Senior High School. She also spent 10 summers at Ausable Chasm. She was a communicant of St. John's Church in Keeseville.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen and Wayne Morrow of Keeseville and Amber and Peter Collins of Burlington, Vt.; two sisters, Marion Schmitt of Plattsburgh and Annette Clarke of Peru; one brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Marie Boule of Beekmantown; three grandchildren, Marina Ushahov, Sheamus Collins and Heather Fowler; three great-grandchildren, Christina and Steven Ushahov and Logan Fowler; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, William Shay, on June 12, 1990; and one brother, Sherman Boule.

There will be no public calling hours. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 10, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church in Keeseville, with Monsignor Joseph Aubin, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to the World War II Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. or to Alzheimer's Research. Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home In Keeseville.
