They moved to Lafayette county MS from Lunenburg, Va prior to 1850 - one son Peter James Saunders fought in the 11th Mississippi Infantry and stayed in Va after the war - other children included Flemin Saunders, Jessee Saunders, John Saunders, William Saunders, Samuel Saunders, Mary Saunders, Rebecca Saunders, Virginia Saunders and Ann Saunders.
