According to my cousin Charlie (I'm not sure if he is a
Ryder), his wife did a geneaology of the Ryders several years ago, a copy of which is in the
Barnstable Museum (last I heard about 15 years ago the Museum was under severe disrepair, and may not exist any more) - anyway there were three sets of Ryders. The Provincetown Ryders, the
Chatham Ryders and the
Barnstable Ryders. All the Ryders are probably related, but I don't know at what point. I know my family stories go back to Provincetown, when an early ship landed there. Charlie lived in
Barnstable where his family home was that I remember visiting as a child at my Great Great Aunt Nattie's (Nataline sp?) I'm not sure of Nattie's relation to my family but she may be a sister of my great Grandfather,
Elijah Thomas
Ryder, married to
Hannah Bowen Dyer Spencer (then
Ryder). Elijah was a sea captain who went off to Nicaragua. Hannah and their daughter Ethel (my grandmother would visit when Ethel was a young girl). I don't know if these pieces help, but the geneaology in
Barnstable, if it has been preserved, I'm sure would be a good resource.
