I met Egon F. Roos in 1953, while on Okinawa during the Korean War, he was in the Air Force. His DOB: 2/20/1931. I believe he was from the East Coast.

I don't think the Egon F. Roos that Willie knew in the Air
Force is the E.F Roos in the cemetery. I'd guess that the
Egon that Willie knew is my mother's cousin, who's still
alive (in GA, I think). His father was Adolph Roos, and he had siblings Edith & Heinz

Am curious about the comment about Baltimore fogarty's. I am a Baltimore Fogarty. My g-grandfather Nicholas emigrated here in the late 1850's, early 1860's. He had a son named Philip--my grandfather. Nicholas also had 3 other brothers--Patrick, Michael and James--who came relatively at the same time and who all moved into each otehrs homes from time to time. What is the time-line for your Philip? Could he have been an older relative, orpossibly the son of one of Nicholas's brothers--they do seem to have disappeared from Baltimore

Hi Kathleen,

Interesting coincidence of names - the father of Philip Fogarty (my grand uncle) was Simon Fogarty. Simon was born in Ireland in 1840 and came to US as a young boy of about 10, and the family settled in Charleston SC. Simon's son Philip was born in there in 1880, and died in Baltimore in 1959. Philip was the only one who moved to Baltimore - most of the rest of the family at this time was in SC. Based on this I don't think there's a connection - I'm unaware of anyone named Nicholas, or any Patrick, Michael or James in Baltimore. Sorry!

Thanks for responding. We have little information on my father's paternal side since his father (my Philip) died when my father was only 4. His father (Nicholas) died when Philip was also a young boy. Since the Irish seem to recycle names, I thought I would take a chance with your Philip.

The Jacob Roos that I have was born on 12/17/1861 to Andrew and Julianna Gutmann Roos. He was married to Josephine Messinger. I will look through my other paperwork to see if there are any of the Roos relatives you named. If there are, I'll let you know. Thanks for your reply!

I'm just starting my search for Roos relatives.
Peter M. (who had a brother Joseph) immigared to Ottowa, Canada in 1859 with his son John (born 2/5/1835) from Rhine, Prussia where he was a soldier. Son John married the sister of Peter Galhausen and opened a cigar store in Ottowa. They had Peter John (born 2/19/1867). After being widowed, John married Katrine Hanson (daughter of Hans Hanson and Maria Nieson) on 2/26/1883. His son Peter John immigrated to the US about 1879 and settled in Binghamton NY. He married Emmaretta Pierce. Are any of these names familiar to anyone out there?
