My Grandfather:- Francois Jacobus Roos was married to Sophia Magdalena Aletta du Toit, and his father(my great grandfather) was also Francois Jacobus and was apparantly caught by a lion while transporting goods using an ox-wagon.

My father:- Johannes Jurie Roos born 14/02/1925 -married to Anna Maria Elizabeth Malan
born 16/12/1931

My fathers 3 brothers and 6 sisters: Lill, Frans,Sophie,Hanna,Kotie, Martie,Francis,
Sarel and Pieter, not arranged and not their full names, only Kotie and my father is still allive.

My 1 brother and 2 sisters: Francois Jacobus Roos born 07/05/1958 (married to Elsa
Johnson neé Pruis- one daughter Alisa)
Jacomina born 05/03/1963 (married to &divorced from Andries
Grobler-two daughters Vicky and Adri)
Sophia Magdalena born 31/08/1965 (married to & divorced from
Leonard La Grange- two sons Leonard and Jacques)

Myself: Dawid Daniël Malan Roos born 24/05/1960( married to Sandra
Dippenaar- no children)

I was born Raymond Francois Roos on 05/01/1954 in Johannesburg son of Rauol Francois Roos born 1921 (he went to King Edward school adn served in the Transvaal Scottish in World War 2. He was the son of Teilman Roos born (I guess around 1900)
My mother is Louise Getrdude de Wet born 06/04/1928 They divorced in 1956 and I was adopted by Tony Osborne when my mother remarried.
Trying to locate my half brother Gavin Roos who may have some history of my Roos ancestry.

Hello to everyone that have chatted in this thread.

All the Roos people spoken about in this conversation sound like family. My maternal grandfather was Francois Jacob Roos (aka Jimmy Roos) (b. 28 Feb 1912) d. 7 Oct 1978. His father was Jacob de Villiers Roos (b. 28 Nov 1869 d. 1941). My grandfather had tw sisters Ellaline(b. abt 1901 d. abt 1970) and Rita(b. abt 1904 d. abt 1925)

Ellaline married a Danie Malan and they had two sons Jimmy Roos Malan and Danie Malan.

My grandfather had three children Elizabeth (Betty) Mary de Villiers Roos (b.17 Dec 1939), Heinrich Jacob (Jimmy) Roos(b. 8 Sep 1943 d. 1980-1990) and Joan Roos(b. 21 Sep 1945)

The name Tielman Roos also fits in although I am not exactly sure where.
