Regarding your query about Sussex/Hampshire PANNELLs.

My gggfthr, John PANNELL was born in Emsworth, Hants about 1781, but was resident in Chichester ,Sussex according to 1841 and 1851 censuses. He was a brewer. He married Elizabeth BINSTEAD in 1822 (born Unction, Sussex) and they had 6 daughters (5 surviving), Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Eliza, Martha and Emma. One son, John, my ggfthr, born in 1838. Served in Household Cavalry (Blues and Royals) for 21 years and later was a Dock Policeman in Poplar, London. His son, my gfthr was born in 1864, and became a policeman.

Does any of this tie in with your researches?

Peter PANNELL

Hi Peter,

It doesn't tie in yet, but I will keep you in mind for my future research. I'm currently waiting on the LDS parish records film for Harting, Sussex, when that comes through I hope to have more names/families to trace. My line (William bn 1789)started off in Harting (thats as far back as I've got)then moved over the boarder, after marrying in Chidham Sussex, into hampshire pre 1841.

There does seem to be quite a few Pannell families in the hampshire/Sussex area. Perhaps they are not all connected?!

Sue

Sue,

There seem to be quite a few Pannells in Sussex. There seems to be a bunch in and around Petworth. I haven't found any direct connection with my lot.

There also appear to be a number of Pannells in Essex.

Regards,

Peter Pannell

I am researching PANNELL in Hampshire although they originated in Surrey in the Witley/Godalming areas. My grandfather is George William, 1887 to 1973.

Hello Ann:

I am writing in the hope of discerning our heritage, which I am told emanates from a William Pannell in Sussex.

We Americans have little in the way of ancestry once our forebearers set foot in the New World. I am wondering if we shouldn't perhaps exchange a few kernels of fact/lore to identify a potential home (for us in the UK), or a potential path and frontier for our relatives across the pond.

Kind regards,

David J. Pannell, Esq.

My Pannell's originated in Sussex - around Hartfield & Forest Row before settling in nearby Cowden, Kent around the 1820's, any connection?

There is a William Pannell born 1859 in Cowden, parents Thomas Pannell & Charlotte Shaw>

Regards

neil

Hi, my father is Peter John Pannell (1930) born Worthing, Sussex. His father was George Stephen Jack Pannell (1902) born East Preston and his grandfather was George Pannell (1880) born Lodsworth. If they are part of your tree and you'd be happy to share some info with me, please get in touch. Regards Carla.

Hi Carla
I too am researching the Pannell line, and found that my ancestor's came from Petworth, and Fittleworth, Sussex, England

If you have connection's to a John Pannell & Mary Court, then we're related

I have only managed to trace the Pannell's back to 1690
