I was trying to look for anybody with the last name of Paniagua. Originating in Puerto Rico. If you have any informatiion on this please e-mail me.

From my understanding the name was derived from Spain. Supposedly there was a group of people who where nomadic and would go from town to town asking for bread and water, hence the name Paniagua. It doesn't sound too cool I know, but that what I know.

Thats very interesting. Where did you get this info from? I'm also from Puerto Rico but currently residing in the States. At least this theory of where our last name comes from is little more flattering than some of the other suggestions I've recieved. Some have made references to a long line of career criminals. LOL. But our name did originate in Spain of that I am sure. I have come in contact with a few Paniagua descedants from Spain. If anybody has any clues or rumors that you have heard please let me know and I'll try and find some truth behind it.

I've heard stories from my fater and grandfater, that we (my family) was originally named Santana, One day two brothers got into some trouble with the law. one of then fled to Mexico and stayed with a family that he met down there, and when he returned, he came back with the last name Paniagua

MY GRANDFATHER CAME FROM CD. RODRIGO SPAIN CLOSE TO SALAMANCA THERE WERE ABOUT 21 BROTHERS AND SISTERS I MET IN 1984 HIS LAST BROTHER. THEY BOTH PAST AWAY 1985.
