I'm currently stuck on my family tree. Does anyone have any info on Toribio Palacios. He was born in approx 1876 near Leon Gunajuato MX. His parents may have been named Edmejaldo and Isabel(Olmos)Palacios.I have checked the Mexican Perish records with no success. To my knowledge he was their first child born in Mexico. His older siblings, Unk names, were born in Spain. Toribio married Juanita Suarez(1886-1961) and immigrated to south Texas in approx 1914 They had nine kids. Teofila,Juanita, Jesus, Victoria, Eusebio, Nicholas, Leon, Guillermo, and Felipe. My Grandfather is Eusebio,(b1922) and we all curently live in Washington State. Any info would be appreciated. Learning I have more family would be priceless. Thanks.

Greetings,

I've always been interested in learning a bit more about my family background and name.

I come from a line of Luis Palacios from Guanajuato, Mexico. In fact, there's some Palacios there still (some Palacios great aunts moved to LA in the 50s).

I'd be curious to know if we're related, and also if you'd be willing to share whatever history you have on our family name. I'm a direct descendant of: Luis Miguel Palacios, son of Luis Enrique Palacios, son of Luis Gozaga (I think?) Palacios. As far as I can tell, my grandfather was born in Iraputao, Guanajuato (not far from Leon), and he had cousins from Leon, Guanajuato.

Luis

I do not know too more from what I wrote in teh initial messege. I did find out that Toribio father was named Felipe Palacios. Toribio must have named his youngest son Felipe, in honor of his father. Toribio's other son Guillermo Palacios( wife Alicia) moved to California. Guillermo died in 1980 in Riverside CA. Just in case there is a California connection.

There is a Palacios family that originated in the Monterrey, N.L. area that come to the lower Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. Many of us tie in to that family.

I searched for Toribio Palacios in the family search site:
http://www.pilot.familysearch.org and found a Toribio Palacios from Leon, Guanajuato. His father is listed as Felipe Palacios. He died in Edinburg, Tx. The informant was Felipe Palacios. He died July 7, 1964. Date of Birth: April 13, 1886.

I would suggest you search the McAllen newspaper for a death notice. Also check Univ of Texas, Pan American for their website. Perhaps they will do the search for you for a minimal fee. McAllen, Texas is the largest city near Edinburg.

Also, contact any of the aunts or uncles that may be living. They are a great source. Good luck. Let us know how you are doing,

If the children were born in the lower Rio Grande Valley, they may be registered in Roma, Rio Grande City, or Brownsville, Tx. The Catholic Archives in Austin, Tx can do a search for you for a small fee.

Jose, sorry for the reply taking so long. Do you have any Felipe Palacios in your family tree around the Leon Mx area, this person may have immigrated from Spain around 1870's. Do you where the Port of Entry would be for that area of Mexico?
