Wells was one of the main proponents of the Indian relationship. In all the Census Reports, both John and Sarah indicate they were born in
Kentucky and in the 1880 Census AR,
Marion county, Sarah indicates both her parents were also born in
KY. Jonathan
Owen (note the "S" is missing)was living near the
Ott family in
Clay Co. Indiana for the 1840 Census, both John and Sarah can reasonably be believed to be part of the children shown. When John said he traded horses and furs for Indian wife Sarah, I believe he was telling a good story.
