Ramon Nunez, 84, passed away peacefully Friday, October 17, 2003. He was a warm and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Ramon lived his life filled with kindness and humor. It has been said, "Those who love deeply never grow old; they may die of old age, but they die young." Ramon lived a full and wonderful eighty-four years but because of his loving sweetness and gentle nature, he lived and died young at heart. He will always be loved, remembered, and treasured forever in our memory. Ramon will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ramon is survived by his daughters, Mary Nunez, Bernadette Nunez, and Jean Nunez Grodner and husband, Brian; son, Robert Nunez and wife, Alicia; grandsons Randy, Robert Jr., and Michael; great granddaughter, Angelique; brothers Pablo and Lucio; sister, Juanita; and many nieces and nephews. His beloved wife of 58 years, Josephine, and his son, Ramon, preceded him in death. Ramon worked at, and retired from the University of New Mexico as manager of receiving and supplies; was a member of Our Lady of Annunciation Church; served in the US Army Medical Corps, and was a member of American Legion Post 13. Pallbearers are Edward Nunez, Danny Nunez, Albert Nunez, Pablo Nunez Jr., Carlos Serda, Julian Serda and Richard Martinez. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 20, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont NE (Claremont northwest of the corner of Menaul and Wyoming), followed by burial service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 7999 Wyoming NE. Viewing of the body will be Sunday, October 19 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE (east of Eubank) followed by Rosary service at 7:00 p.m at the same location.
