I have recently been given the name of my Great Great Great Grandmother Elizabeth Betsy Noble born 1824 in Perry Co. KY. This side of the family has been completely lost to us until now. Looking to link up with anyone with info on Elizabeth Betsy. At some point in my family American Indian came into it. Does anyone have info on Nobles of Indian(Cherokee) heritage? I am just getting started with my research of my father's family (Noble's). Although he never spoke of any Cherokee desendants, his brother told me before his death that they had a grandparent of Cherokee blood. My grandfather's name was Alva Noble. He died close to Grand Island, Ne. and is buried there. He had been working on the railroad at the time of his death. Most of his adult live he lived in Decatur Co., Ia. If you would like any further info please email me.

I sat there reading your Email and I kept saying there's something else...I kept looking and looking and it was the Burgess name that finally jumped at me. I haven't found any more info on the Indian blood that I know it there on my family line although I am spending hour upon hour searching for it. But that Burgess name... My Grandmother's sister, Minnie Sewell b:April 24, 1906 Breathitt Co Ky. Died March 27, 1995 was married to a BURRESS the two names seem very similar and from what I've learn from my short time on this puter is that people changed the spelling for their last names alot. I have seen pictures and have talk in person to some of this line of my family and I was looking and talking to Indians. I don't know the degree...that's what I'm trying to find out but they are of Indian descent that much I'm sure of. My Grand mother's sister was named Minnie Sewell who married a Jesse Burress---children 1. Bobby BURRESS 2.Ron BURRESS 3. John BURRESS. I don't have any dates on them. If thes names ring any bells then let me know. Keeping in Touch. Rita

Noble - Cherokee Indian Territory - Okalahoma

Lorraine Cockrum  (View posts) Posted: 31 Jan 2000 5:51PM GMT
I am searching for information in regards to
relatives on my mother's side of the family.
My grandmother was born on July 23, 1902, in
Indian Territory, in or near the town of
Vinita, which is in the northeast corner of
the state of Oklahoma, close to Lake O' The
Cherokees and a very short distance from the
borders with Kansas to the north and Missouri
to the east. Her mother's (Mary Luella DAVIS-
B:23 MAR 1881)father was Christopher Maynard
DAVIS B:29 JAN 1858..and he was married to
Lillian Ernestine NOBLE B:6 MAR 1859..other
records have her listed as "William Ernest
NOBLE"..she died 4 OCT 1938. I am searching
for more information on the NOBLE side.. My
grandma's Grandma DAVIS' parents, Great-grandpa
and Great-grandma NOBLE, lived to the west,
near what is now Woodward, Oklahoma, along
the Canadian River. Great-grandma NOBLE'S
mother was Cherokee. ..I would appreciate any
assistance as to names and dates.. I should
also mention that my grandmother's parents,
Chris and Lillian DAVIS moved north to
Alberta, CANADA and homesteaded near Lavoy
and Ranfurly..and their letters must have
told a pretty enticing story, as George and
Lula (Luella DAVIS) MICHAEL pulled up stakes
the following year when their daughter Blanche
was two. According to Grandma they made the
journey (well over 2000 miles) from Oklahoma
to central Alberta in a wagon drawn by a team
of mules.
..if anyone has any information or would like
to receive any that I may have please contact
myself

NOBLE - Cherokee - Indian Territory-Oklahoma

Lorraine Cockrum  (View posts) Posted: 31 Jan 2000 6:09PM GMT
..In regards to Lillian Ernestine NOBLE
B: November 1859 in Missouri..and who was
married to Christopher Maynard DAVIS
B: January 1858 in Ohio...
..somewhere along the line here there was a
man by the name of Joseph McEwen (sp?) and he
may have been married to a Cherokee Princess.
..I am particularly interested in tracing the
names and whereabouts of these two.. as there
is a close relationship to the NOBLE-DAVIS
relatives who were living in Indian Territory,
near Vinita, Oklahoma..
..thanks again.

Cherokee Noble's

Did you ever find a confirmation that there is Cherokee in YOUR Noble family? My entire life I was told that I was a decendant (1/16)of a Cherokee Indian Princess. We can not trace anything beyond my grandfather, Howard Douglas Noble (b:1914/d:1988). I have his mother's name as Leah Eves, but no name for his father (deceased during Howard's childhood). Wondering if there's a connection...or how many Noble's married Indian Princesses?

Hello Nicole..great to hear from you.. perhaps
we should exchange information via email.. my
address is: cockrum.sisters@sk.sympatico.ca
My mom had a picture of this woman but the
photo was returned to a relative that had
requested it...this Aunt has since passed on.
I'm hoping to locate it via her son..but he is
somewhere in the US and I don't know whether
I will be able to track it down.. I believe that
Lillian Ernestine Noble was married to an
Irish fellow.. I would love to hear more about
your family history and perhaps we can make
the connection! Take care Nicole. -Lorraine
