There was a William Nash that was a cousin of my g.g.grandfather. I am descended from Nashes that moved to Mississippi by 1820 from S.C.(Ruben, Abner, Ezekiel clans) Their fathers (James and John) had moved to S.C. just after the revolution from virginia. I also spoke to a William Nash from a different Mississippi Nash clan recently. He has posted previous messages and may be of help.

My father was from Mississippi (Port Gibson). He was born in 1900 on April 3. His name was Sam Nash and he had a brother name Ben. I don't really know much more.

My great grandfather was bon in Missisippi> His name was Lee Smith. He married a Lizzie Nash and they lived in Pearl River, LA. St. Tamany Parish. I am looking for info on either of them.

I don't believe we are related as most of the Nash's I am related to were in Nashville, Tennessee in the 1900's. My father was born 1904 in Nashville.

Ben Nash is a family name appearing in the 1800's, perhaps their is a connection to my family. You have the date of Sam Nash's birth and his brother's name so you can easily back track your family into the 1800s.
First, you should check the Mississippi Census for 1900 and 1910 to identify your grandfather's parents names (I assume you do not know these since you did not mention them).
Second, Your Grandfather would also have had to had a birth certificate constructed for social security (as an adult) and this would have listed his parents names. If your grandfather is deceased, his death certificate will also list his parents... if he died in Mississippi (and the same will apply for his parents assuming they died after 1911).
Third, If your grandfather served in WWI or in the Military, you should write to the National Archives to get his military service records (The Mississippi Archives also have records of CSA Veterans once you have traced back that far).
