Virginia Nommay, 82, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
Thelma was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Roanoke, Ill., a daughter of the late Samuel E. and
Corda P. (Orem)
Mills.
A devoted mother, she was also one of the nation’s “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II, building airplanes in Akron,
Ohio.
Thelma is survived by three children, Marcia
Shaffer of New
Waterford, David Nommay of
Clearwater, Fla. and
Drake (Charlotte) Nommay of
Girard, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Thelma was preceded in death by a son, Mark Nommay; six brothers, Carl, James, Arthur, Edward,
Eldon and Charles Mills; and an infant sister.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Lane Funeral Home,
Canfield Chapel.
