I am doing genelogy NEED all info about including names of coal miners kill 1965 near Fairview WV. My consin was killed there and I can not find his death record or birth record. His mother was Bessie Mike Higgenbottam . on a marriage record he is Mickel. (he married a Stull 1957.) He was born 1932. marion co. father unknown.

passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at St. Vincent Health Center.
He was born November 1, 1948, in Havaco, West Virginia, son of the late Ted Henry Mickel and Willie Mae Dickerson Mickel.
He was a resident of Erie for 35 years.
Ronald was employed over 28 years at EMI as a core maker and was most recently employed as a Supervisor for Securitas.
For years he volunteered at Joel Two,
always giving back to the community.
He was a member of Mt. Ebal Baptist Church.
He was an avid sports fan, with the Cleveland Browns being his favorite team. He was also an excellent cook, a master griller and was a gentle, loving, caring and soft-spoken soul. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Besides his parents,
he was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell and Peter Mickel,
and a sister, Jessie Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 31 years, Lula Tate Mickel of Erie;PA,
four sons, Tony Tate (Sonya), Murfreesboro, Tenn., Ronald Mickel, Jr. (Heather) and Steve Elston (Lisa), of Erie, Tyrone Mickel of Newport News, Va.;
four daughters,
Jacqueline Elston, Charlotte, N.C.,
Tanya Jones (Reggie), Northeast, Pa.,
Tinya Thomas (Jason)
and Tracy Mickel, all of Erie;PA,
four brothers, Ted Mickel, Jr. (Vicki), Atlanta, Ga., William Mickel of Erie,PA,
Howard Mickel (Arlene), Youngstown, Ohio,
Steve Mickel (Karen) of Buffalo, N.Y.;
five sisters, Geraldine Mickel,
Patricia Mickel
and Tina Mickel of Buffalo, N.Y.,
and Ina Chandler (Robert),
Sheila Parker (Edward) of Erie;
34 grandchildren;
14 great-grandchildren;
as well as a host of nieces
(special niece Nadine Leach),
nephews, relatives and friends.

The first article posted had a mis spelling of the city. It is Wilton Manors not Manners. Also, Perry Mickel owned a substantial amount of land, during the early years of Wilton Manors. Perry Mickel donated a 10 acre parcel to the city for Wilton Manors youth baseball, around 1950 (Mickel Field, 2675 NW 7th Ave. A writer for the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, named Cynthia Thuma wrote a book and had it published on the history of Wilton Manors. The Mickel Family played a huge part in the history of Wilton Manors. If you are unaware of Thuma's book, you can eamil me and I will furnish the name of the publisher and an email address to reach Cynthia Thuma. I too would like some information on any living relatives of Perry Mickel, as I would like to know some history on Mickel Field in Wilton Manors Florida.
FYI Mickel Field is located 26 degrees, 9 minutes and 36.3 minutes N (Latitude) and 80 degrees, 9 minutes and 12.8 minutes W (Longitude) if you would like to view in satellite imagery.

George Mickel from Portland, Oregon?

I am trying to locate decendants of Austin Ernest Henry (1891 FL-1970 Portland, Oregon). He and his wife, Mary Edith, are buried in Willamette National Cemetery. In a 1930 census he had two daughters, Jean and Iva J.

According to the funeral home records, Austin had a daughter, Mrs. George Mickel (I assume either Jean or Iva J. married a Mickel). She might have lived in Portland, Oregon. Does anyone have any information on this famiy? I really want to contact a living relative.

Help! I have Mary Amelia Mickel, b. 20 Aug 1840, Married Finando Kelley 24 May 1859 in Tama Co, IA. The family moved to Pasadena, CA where Finando died in 1914. Mary probably died in that area to as many of the children stayed around ther, but I have not been able to locate death records for her. Can anyone help me with her parents or siblings?

I have been researching the name "Mickel" for some time in an attempt to track down the same surname in the family I'm working on. This is what I know about Perry Clinton Mickel:

He was a son of John H. Mickel born about 1854 in Ohio and his wife Anna born about 1856 in New Jersey or Ohio. He had a sister, Margie, born in 1890. Perry was born 4 June 1893 in Cameron, Missouri and died November 1968 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I believe that he was probably a grandson of Clinton Mickel and his wife Mary who at the time of the 1880 census were living in Concord, Fayette County, Ohio. In that census was a son named John who was of the right age to be Perry's father. Also in that census was a daughter named Rachel whom I believe to be the person I am searching for.

Prior to moving to Florida some time between 1924 and 1926, Perry lived in Sheridan, Indiana. I'm sorry I don't have any more information about this family. I just thought I'd pass on to you what I've found.

I am researching the parents of Abraham Michael, b. PA c. 1765-1775 and died 1823, Shelby, Genessee County. He was married to Margaret Weatherwax, b. c 1773 in Renssealear County, NY and died after 1850 in Lowell, Lake Co., IL. While Margaret's ancestors on both sides (other was Grauberger) were from the 1709 Palatine immigrants, I and other researchers have never been able to link Abraham to either of the Michael Palatine immigrants of 1709 who settled in Rensslaer/Schoharie Cos.

Yesterday I came across a baptismal record for a Hannes Michel, son of Hannes Michael and Sara Church, at the Albany Dutch Reformed Church, I believe in 1773. The child's sponsors were Andries Weatherax and his wife, Catharine Reisdorff. At that time, Andries and Catharine lived in the the area of Rensselaer Co., NY that later became Sand Lake. One of the other early settlers of Sand Lake was an R. Mickel.

This scenario technically fullfils the conditions of the Robert Mickel, with son John, whom he disowned for marrying his cousin Sarah. Of course, it is a geographical stretch to assume that these folks might have migrated from PA to this part of NY.

I'd appreciate your comments and suggestions for finding the parents of Abraham Michael.

They had a son named Robert H. SPURRIER. I believe he was called Robert Earl. (not sure why)

Thomas Whitfield Mickel is my husband, Laurin's, great-grandfather and Adam his gg-grandfather. Laurin is descended through Thomas' daughter, Emma Louisa Mickel, who married William Thomas March. We show Thomas Mickel being married to Mary Pottertown and Adam Mickel being married to a Rebecca. You probably got the post from Sandra Beskowl who is related to Rebecca and she's a Guffin?
