Not knowing who to E-Mail I'm leaving a message here in
hope that someone will know and have them contac me.

In researching my wifes family history in Sumner County, TN. where Samuel McWhirter married a Narcissus Johnson in 1880. This part is true but Narcissus was not the daughter of James P. Johnson and Priscilla D. Lumsdale. To protect the integrity of our family histories yours and mine we need to get this resolved.

I have all the information that would resolve this and to identify the real J.Johnson and Priscilla. Please help

Thank you
C.W.
A number of African American McWhirter's hailed from Spartenburg, SC and some are propurted to be buried in New Prospect Cemetery. I could not find the one I was looking for as I believe the grave may be too old and not readable at this time. I am researching J. Waddie Whirter who was married to Hattie Lattimore in 1901 in Cleveland County, NC. They both were school teachers and found the McWhirter Academy for Colored Students in Spartenburg. My great aunt died in 1949 and J W was still living. I have not been able to find a death certificate for him although there is one in SC for Hattie.

Thomas H McWhirter died 3 Sept 1933 in the township of York, Ontario. He was buried at Prospect Cemetery on the 6 Sept 1933. I don't have a death date for Annie, but on the death certificate it lists him as widowed, so she died bef 1933. He was an insurance agent/broker, as stated on his certificate. The information was filled out by his brother Edward McWhirter.

I do not know if there is a living link to thier children, the son could still be alive, althought it is a long shot. I only found them last month when the Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta 1916 Census data was released.

Thanks for the link, the page was there, but only the top of it with his name. I don't know if there was any more info there or not, but I couldn't get it to open up any further.

Happy Easter to you as well!
Angela

Hi again,
Thank you for the picture of the handsome young Thomas H McWhirter. Thank you also for the info on their children.
Can you provide the date of death and place of burial for Thomas and hopefully Annie? Are there any living descendents of Annie and Thomas I could get in touch with?

Try this web address: http://books.google.com/books?ei=I3rhSc68FaKuzASVvbiuDQ&...
Then click on “Who’s who in Canada – Page 928” It takes a bit of time to load. It will take you right to the entry. If it dosn't work let me know and we can try plan two.

I used Ancestry for two years but ran out of “finds”, so I use it at the libraries now for free. It is a limited version and can not go into family trees the same as when I was a member. I will look for your family tree my next opportunity. I have a Traill family tree on Ancestry. It has Gordon D Traill, Annie (Traill) McWhirter’s father and other’s in it. I have some new info that I will add someday when I rejoin Ancestry.

Thank you again. Look forward to your reply. Happy Easter!
All for now ..... Elizham

I just tried searching for it and can't seem to track down a copy of that book yet. I have some photos of Thomas and his brothers on my Family Tree.

Hello Saskatchewan_military,

Annie (Traill) McWhirter is my great aunt on my father’s side. I found the connection in “Who’s Who in Canada 1922” thru Google Books. It has a picture of Thomas H McWhirter and lots of other info. I also found their marriage record on Ancestry. That is where my info ends on Thomas H and Annie McWhirter. I would love to have a picture of Annie and stories of their life. Do you know their children’s names or any living connection?

Thanks for your reply. A living connection is such a treat! Is there anything about my Traill line that would help you?

All for now ..... Elizham

I am seeking any information on the following family.

George McWh*rter was born in SC between 1780 and 1790. He was married to Matilda ______ who was born in SC about 1791. They were probably married there about 1810.

By 1820 they were living in TN. They appear to have lived in Wilson and Lincoln counties, and were then enumerated in the Hardin County Census for 1840.

George died in the 11th Civil District of Hardin County in 1847. Matilda died there in 1857.

They had several children, including Aaron E.B. (B: abt 1811 SC), Matilda H. (B: abt 1822, TN), Narcissa A. (B: abt 1830, TN) and Anna F. (B: abt 1830, TN). There were probably other daughters.
The first generation I have record of goes back to Thomas McWhirter born in 1770 married to Mary Campbell. They had a child named Thomas born in 1793 married to Catherine Alexander in Airshire. Their children were William, Hugh,And Mary. I goes on from there. The record I got off this site came from a lady who studies geneology for a hobby. She sent me two family files. I haven't had time to verify the infomation. My granfather comes in in 1896 4th generation. There in another Archibald Cree McWhirter born feb 1st 1904 in aryshire who pased on sept 9 1986. I look like Thomas McWhirter was tyhe father and Margaret Carson was Thomas' wife.
