I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ABOUT DAVID SLOAN OLIVER ELROD THAT WAS MARRIED TO A LUCINDA MAYS. HE WAS BORN MAY 10, 1832 AND SHE WAS BORN FEB. 6, 1839 AND DIED OCT. 28, 1881. THEY HAD 4 BOYS, JAMES D. , WADE, PICKENS AND JOSEPH FRANKLIN. THEY LIVED IN ANDERSON, S.C. AND DAVID DIED IN HARTWELL, GA., APRIL 18, 1915 AT THE HOME OF HIS SON. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION!

I ran across a Lucinda Mays in the 1850 census of Abbeville SC. She was enumerated, most likely a daughter, with Meady Mays, born 1798, SC. She was born in 1839, 11 years old.

Lucinda was born Feb. 06, 1839 and died October 28, 1881. She was married to David Oliver Sloan Elrod the 18th of September, 1870. She was his second wife and they had 4 children, James David, Wade Hampton, Pickens and Joseph Elrod.

I believe that you are referring to Lucina (Lucinda)Emmer Mays, born Feb 5, 1839. She was the daugher of Meady Mays and his first wife Lucinic (Lucinda) Scurry. Meady and Lucinda were married November 20, 1823. Meady was born July 5, 1798 in SC and died September 10, 1875. Lucinda Scurry his wife was born March 10, 1805, and died November 19, 1848 in Cambridge District, Edgefield Co. SC. I think there was a total of about 14 children if my records are correct.

I am also looking for information about David Sloan Elrod and Lucinda Elrod. My Grandfather, Wade Hampton, was born September 18, 1876 and died May 24, 1949. He is buried in Old Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson, SC. I would like any information that you have.
