Hello, It may come somewhat of a surprise to you, but you should look in Eglish Archives for possibly the information that you seek regarding this persons birth certificate. In the early 1700's A.D. the english
Queen offered
German citizens whom were suffering from devastation and homelessness in Germany an opportunity to move to the New World (
America) as colonists under the British Flag and a contract promising them land. As it was, the
English did not expect such large numbers of german's to take the British up on this offer and as a result the british limited the number to 6000 passengers in total and then began sending the remainder of german citizens to other colonies of england such as Ireland, Scottland, new Zealand, Australia and points south of North
America such as the carolina's. The May family were
German citizens whom jumped at this opportunity for a new life in
America, however, only a few of the May family members were amongs't the 6000 immigrants whom were shipped to
America. The remaining may family members along with numerous other german families were hence shipped elsewhere.
I suggest that you seek information from the
English Archives and also from both german Archives for D'Armstad
Province which is where the May family originated in Germany and you might also search the
Dutch Archives for the port at the bottom of the
Rhine River of which immigrants from germany were shipped from in conjunction with the
English agreement.
There is much information which has been written to be found throughout the internet in this area. You just need the time and patience to search it out. Good luck on your venture.
