Found a possible death record for Myrtle Lyons Hardwick, which provides her parents names as William and Luella Lyons. Death record is in Ohio Co., WV although it provides her place of death as Martins Ferry.

Ohio Co., WV Death record: http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=5722715&Typ...

I have additional information about her husband, Lemuel Hardwick and his "probable" parentage. Believe him to be same offspring appearing as Columbus Hardwick on 1870 & 1880 Mason Co., WV census. That would make him son of Robert Thomas Hardwick & Eliza Meadows. I have more about this family.

Joseph Lyons Born July 1943 Brooklyn ny

My Father's name is Joseph Michael Lyons born July 16, 1943 in Brooklyn,NY. I am looking for any information on who his father is. The only information I know about my Grandfather is his name is/was also Joseph Lyons. My grandmother's name(my father's mother) was Margaret Lyons(Maiden name Cooney{spelling???}) If anyone has any information I would truely apprieciate a reply. My father's mother died in the late 1940's and her family refused to tell my father, even as an adult, who his father was. My father remembers attending a funeral as a child, probably in the early 1950's, and seeing his Father there with a woman who was pregnant. I and my family would love to hear from anyone with any information.. Some surnames are Cooney, Cooke, and Murphy and I believe they resided in Flatbush, NY. I have also been told my Grandmother(my Father's Mother, use to sing with Jackie Gleason in the 1940's). My Grandmother use to live on Chauncey Street in Brooklyn

Hi! I just read your post & wanted to share a little bit about my Father. He was born in 1943 in Brooklyn NY & never knew who his father was. It was always a big secret & unfortunatley, anyone who may have known anything has since passed. My Father's mothers name was Margerate Cooney & she died when he was 7 or 8 yrs old. There really isn't much more info except that his mother was not married to his father. I also know that he spent summers as a child in Vermont.

Idk, just a bit of info. If u think possibly there's a connection please respond.!! Thank you!

James was my grandmothers brother - Ancestry now has his service book online which has my g-grandfathers name and address (The White Hart, St Mary's gate Radcliffe, Nr Rochdale). I've attached it to him in my family tree if you'd like a look (BRIERLEY family tree).
He was 21 when he joined the army in December 1915 and died in November 1916. Such as waste.
There is no mention of him being married I'm afraid.

I do have her death date as 6 Oct 1900. She was married to Curtis Davis, my gggrandfather. I think I put enough "g"s there.
Curtis was the father of George A. who was the father of Walter L. Davis, my grandfather.

Nancy Lyons' father, I believe, was a Matthew. Mother is unknown. Also, Nancy may have been married before Curtis Davis, to a Daniel Mulholland.

Lyons/Nealon/Lenahan County Mayo to Ashley, PA

I'm looking for anyone connected to my great-grandmother Mary Ellen Lyons (1865-1946) of County Mayo who married Michael Lenahan (1859-1911) in Wilkes Barre, PA at St. Mary's Church in 1896. The family lived in Maffitt's Patch until it was removed. Mary and Michael then moved to Cook Street where daughters Margaret and Helen were born, and came to settle at 58 Fall Street. Other cousins, the Lyons lived a few doors up the street. The Nealons who lived next door were also related to Mary. If anyone has information to share about any of these families, I would love to hear from you.

Hello. I have alot of Lyons family members that were to have originated from Ireland/Scotland and into the Pa area in the 1800's. I have traced them to a Wm. Lyon and a woman he married named Eliza (Elizabeth ? Lyons born 1835 from Ireland. I would love to connect with you on your photos. Possibly the ones they say are Black may be part of my ancestor pool even though a lot were classified as mulato. Please let me know and hopefully I can help you also. Photos are a blessing to come by.
Marva
queenmarviej@verizon.net

I could not help but notice the similarity of the dates and first names of the Slevins. could there be a match here?
I am trying to trace my family back past my Great -Great Grand father who was born in Queens County Ireland in 1798. I seek his parents or brothers and sisters.
My Great Great Grand Father James Slevin(1)was a man fifty-seven years of age when he joined his son James(2) in Waterbury, and during his fifteen years of residence lived a quiet life, free from business cares, living to be seventy-two years of age. His wife, Mary(Brennan) Slavin, born in Queens county, Ireland, died in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1871, aged seventy years. Their children were: Sarah; John; William; James, of further mention; Mary, Margaret, Joseph and Dennis.
The name Slevin remains on the family plot for all of James the1st and his children. James the 2nd also used the name Slevin but the name became Slavin thereafter for some unknown reason.
James (2) my great grand father Slavin, son of James (1) and Mary (Brennan) Slavin, was born at Balnakill*1, county of Queens, Ireland in 1832 and died in Waterbury, Connecticut, January 26, 1896. He remained in his native land until he attained legal age, but as soon thereafter as possible carried out a long formed plan, and on April 13, 1853 arrived in the United States, locating at once in Waterbury. He was not long in Waterbury before he became a contractor for the firm of Rogers & Brother. He was married in 1866 to Mary Duggan, born in Abbey-leigh, Queens County, Ireland in 1847, died April 13, 1893, daughter of Dennis and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Duggan. Eight children were born to James (2) and Mary Slavin, Andrew, died in Waterbury, Dennis Joseph, of further mention; James died in Waterbury; Michael F., assistant registrar of Waterbury; died in Waterbury, Frances, a sister of Charity in Jersey City, New Jersey; Edward Joseph, a practicing physician of New York City died in Waterbury Ct: William. an electrical engineer of New York City and latter the head of the Electrical Eng Dept at Villinova Univ. William also died in Waterbury, Ct.
Dennis Joseph Slavin my grand father, second son of James(2) and Mary (Duggan) Slavin, was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, March 10, 1872. he attended the public schools and began the study of law in the office of Burpee & Carmody, passed the required examinations and was admitted to the bar in 1901. He at once began practice in Waterbury continuing very successfully until 1911, when he was elected judge of the Probate Court and served for 26 years in that capacity.
Judge Slavin married, in Waterbury, November 26, 1896, Mary Agnes Dwyer, born in Hartford, Connecticut, daughter of John Dwyer, and his wife, Mary (Gorman) Dwyer, who died when her daughter was an infant. Five children have been born to Judge Dennis Joseph and Mary Agnes (Dwyer) Slavin: Helen Marie, born October 14, 1897, a graduate of Notre Dame Convent, class of 1916;James Dennis Slavin my father, born December June 20, 1905; Edward Joseph, born December 23, 1907; Maureen born February 14, 1909, and Frances Barbara, born July 20, 1914.
James Dennis Slavin, my father, attended local Waterbury Schools and graduated from Georgetown Univ for his undergraduate work as well as GeorgeTown Law School. I have some on the Lyon family and also on the Burch and Towne Family. The Lyon family (as far as I have it) came from Vermont, then to Franklin Co., N.Y. and to Minnesota. From there Amelia and her husband Chancy Burch went to WI.

There is a Reece Hughes buried in Pettis County, Missouri in the Mount Hermon Cemetery. HOWEVER, the dates are September 1818 - April 1882. The cemetery is located 3+ miles north of Sedalia on 65. There are 7 Hughes buried in the cemetery. NO Polly. We cannot get George Hughes back any farther than 1792 in Virginia. Any info you would be willing to share would be appreciated.

I am so SORRY I didn't get back to you until now. For some reason they had me locked out of their system. My Great Grandfather was James Lyons. My Great Grandmother was Hedwig Lyons. My father was born in New Brunswick and went to St. Peter's H.S. His name was Martin Heffernan class of 1958. A lot of my family is in St. Peter's Cemetery. Our family use to go to Saacred Heart Church. The first stained glass window on the right as you walk in has my Great Great Grandparent James and Cathrine Heffernan on it. James and Hedwig had 13 children. It is possible that we are related some how.

Best regards

Marty

We have discovered some photos amongst our collection of a Lyons family. On the back of one is written Herb (or Hal) and Jen Lyons. On another is a photographers address from Glasgow. They look to be from around the late 1800s early 1900s but could be earlier. One is a formal studio setting the remaining two look to be in front of the same substantial house. Attached.
We have no idea how they fit or don't fit into the family.
One says ancestors of Blacks. The family come from Scotland - Glasgow and Falkirk as far as we know.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Searching for info on Alexander Lyons

I am searching for the same information on Alexander Lyons. I'm a decendent of both Clark Lyons and John V. Lyons. I spoke to my Grandmother this morning and she told me that her father had information about Alexander's disappearance. According to the family record, Alexander had in fact gone back to England to settle a will and obtained a substantial amount of money. On the return trip he was robbed on the ship and thrown overboard. I am going to look for the passenger manifests to see if I can back that up with records.

William Lyons/Mary Carroll of Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta.

Searching for information on or descendants of William Lyons 18Nov1850 St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada and Mary CARROLL (1858-)Ontario. They had the following children: Maggie May LYONS (1877-);George Leonard LYONS (1881-); William W LYONS (1883-); Mamie E LYONS (1885-); Mildred T LYONS (1886-); and Catherine Lyons (1896-)....all born in Ontario. William and Mary married 23Nov1876 Ailsa Craig, Middlesex, Ontario. Their family was recorded in the 1901 Ontario census, and then in the 1906 and 1911 census records for Edmonton, Alberta. Their marriage certificate shows Mary was the dgt of Bartholemew and Catharine Carroll. Catharine I believe was born Catherine Quigley, dgt of Bryan Quigley and Margaret Ryan who were my gr gr grandparents. My Catherine Quigley was married to a Bartholemew Carroll and died 1858 giving birth. A Mary Carol appears on 1861 Huron County,Ontario census record with Bryan and Margaret's household. Until I found the marriage record for William Lyons and Mary Carroll, Catherine Quigley's branch of the family tree ended with her death. If anyone is researching this Lyons family I would love to hear from you and exchange information.
