***Joseph M Lyons, 72, Rockford, died Sunday 4/11/1993 in Shorewood, IL. Born Aug. 15, 1920 in Chicago, the son of Joseph A and Margaret Hughes Lyons. Lived one year in Rockford, coming here from Shirland. Married Frances Pfaff in Chicago in August 1952. She died Feb. 27, 1970. Veteran of WWII serving with the Navy. Retired teacher of West High School. Named State of IL Senior of the Year in 1991. Troop committee member of Shirland Boy Scout Troop. Member Golden K and Beloit (Wis) Musicians Union. President of Granny's Treasures board of directors. Active volunteer for many organizations. Writer for Senior Courier, U-Auto Ask. Survivors include his son, William Lyons, Shorewood; daughter, Carol (Ed) Marsha, Akron, Ohio;six grandchildren and two great-grand-childred. Also predeceased by parents.
