I am seeking information about descendents of Johan Lofgren from Nyberg, Sweden. He had at least three children Oscar William, Johannes, and Matilda. Each of these children had several children. Oscar William emigrated to the states. At least one of Johannes children came to the states. Her name was Hulda and she married Gust Johnson. Matilda married Gustaf Nilsson. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi. I am looking for Charles Wilhelm Lofgren. He came to the US in 1887 with a John & Augusta. He changed his name to William Lovegreen. He named one of his sons Oscar B and a daughter Edith Matilda. He resided in Rhode Island

Hi! Although I am not certain, it would seem that our relatives might be related. Do you know where your relatives are from? Our family can be traced to Johan Anderson Lofgren and Gustava Nilsdotter Sandin of Neder Kalix, Sweden. Johan (8-5-1821: 7-30-1899) Gustava (2-12-1824: 12-26-1888) They had at least six children Oscar Wilhelm, Johannes, Matilda, Margareta, Karl Olaf, and August. My great grandfather, Oscar Wilhelm emmigrated to the US in 1880 with Nils Eric Lofgren. My great grandfather changed the last name to Johnson. He lived in Chicago and was an architect. If we do make the connection of have quite a bit of "stuff" I have collected including pictures and letters which were translated from Swedish. We also know my grandfather's brother Oscar Wilhelm became a governor of Neder Kalix and their is a statue of him in the town square (We have pictures.) and his grave still exists (more pictures). His father, Johann also served the government and we have a medal which was awarded to him. It has been almost a year since I was working diligently so I don't remember the children of all my grandfather's siblings. Maybe something will connect with you. I hope so. If you would like to write directly my e-mail is bethc@usit.net.

I doubt you are a relative. but here is some help. there is no town named nyberg in sweden. However, your ancestors were probably tenant farmers, called Torps. They lived on a piece of property owned by a wealthy land owner. The farm where they lived was called nyberg or nyborg. There were probably a few different farms called nyborg or nyberg. in the early 1800's the church for tracking purposes began requiring people to take unique last names, so they would take the name of the farm or area where they lived. I am going to guess that they came from an aggriculture area just west of lake vattern
