Hi. I've been researching my great-grandfather Charles Lacey Lane from Mississippi. I just found out that his father was Thomas J. Lane who's father was Middleton Lane from Georgia, born 1814. He was married to Milbrey Cook. Maybe he was married to Nancy Winters first? I don't know much yet. Any info appreciated.

Do you know if Nancy married again. I have my gg-grandmother listed as Nancy Lane Dungey-b. circa 1800-m.1831 to Charles Dungee/Dungey/Dungy more than likely at Giles or Cocke Co, TN. I believe a son, William, was adopted by her Dungey husband.

According to my family records, Middleton Lane (1791-1869) had a brother Tandy (1788-1870?) and Tandy was the father of the Middleton Lane who was born in Tennessee in 1815 and married Nancy Winters there in 1833. The older Middleton married Nancy Forester in Blount Co, TN in 1819. They had 8 children - John, Elizabeth, Robert, Charles, William, Infant Son, Thomas and Joseph. All but the youngest child were born in Tennessee - Joseph was born in Polk County, MO. The younger Middleton had 9 children - Josiah(Joseph?), Samuel, Tempe, Mary, John, Sarah, Robert, Terissa and William. Josiah was born in Tennessee and the rest were born in MO. I am descended from the older Middleton through his son William.

Vicki, this is the family I have been searching for. We are related to the older Middleton Lane and wife Nancy Forester through Robert. I had not heard of Tandy and am delighted to gain that information. I recently found William the last of the children of the younger Middleton, I had information on the others but I am following the line of Robert from the younger Middleton. I have his wife as Lyda and three daughters, Lenna L., Rosa L. and Montie A. Do you have any further information on them? Sorry for the delay I have been traveling and do so quite often but I would really like to correspond and exchange any information. Please E-Mail me and thank-you for you reply and patience. This is my husbands line and I stayed confused on the Middleton's and Nancy's for a while!

Tandy MIddleton Lane (1805-1841) was a son of James S. and Catherine "Katy" Hager Layne. James' father was William S. Layne from Amhurst Va. They arrived near the present town of Betsy Layne about 1796. James Shannon Layne and Katherine had 10 children. One of the children, Tandy MIddleton Layne married Elizabeth "Betsy"Johns. This is who the town of Betsy Lane is named for.

Children of Tandy MIddleton who married Lucinda Mahan. Their children were: Lorrice "Sissie" Layne, James Anderson, Nora, Frank, Alice, Minnie, Annie, Joseph, James.

Fannie,
I noticed a James Anderson Lane listed in your posting. Is this the one who married Marietta Aaron and lived in Hamilton Co., Illinois? I've been searching for members of this Lane line for some time now. Any assistance is always appreciated.

Vicki,

This is exciting information to the elusive Tandy Lane ancestry I have been researching. I have heard that Tandy had a brother named Middleton, and as for Tandy, he was born 1790 in TN, and died 11 Nov. 1866, b. Appleby homestead, Polk Co. MO. A few years ago my father and I found his tombstone buried in the family plot covered with an undergrowth of vegetation. Tandy's second wife was Lucy (Polly) Jones and I descend directly from them. Their daughter was Nancy Lane and she married James Appleby. James was Nancy's second husband. I have more info if you are interested.

Now to my question. I am searching for Tandy's ancestors. I have been told that the parents were Charles Lane and Elizabeth Mallory....do you know? I have nothing except oral family information and am seeking verifiable information. Am willing to share anything I have with any family members.

Thanks for listening,
Mary Anderson Hanna
