Judy,
I was told that a Dermily Landry and Stanislas Landry were brothers. Dermily was born in 1856 and is buried at the Baghdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas. I am from Dermily's line of Texas Landrys. Hope this helps. Btw, I can't find Dermily's parents, either.

Here is some of the info I have:
I have Claude Sr. Landry, b. 1662, Port Royal, Acadia, m, 1684, Port Royal, Acadia to Marguerite Theriot, b. 1667, Port Royal, Acadia, They had:
Marie Madeleine Landry
Marie Josephe Landry
Claude Landry, II
Marguerite Landry
Jean Landry
Anne Landry
Jeanne Landry,
Pierre Landry
Joseph Landry

Claude Landry, born 1662 in Port Royal, Aadia (Source: 2 Ar. P. 613); married Marguerite Theriot 1684 in Port Royal, Richmond, Acadia; born 1668 in Port Royal, Acadia (Source: 2 Ar. P. 805).

Marguerite Theriot, born 1668 in Port Royal, Acadia (Source: 2 Ar. P. 805); married Claude Landry 1684 in Port Royal, Richmond, Acadia; born 1662 in Port Royal, Aadia (Source: 2 Ar p. 613).

Claude was son of Rene (l'Aine) Landry & Perrine Bourg who had five children.
Notes for Rene (l'Aine) Landry:

Dit l'aine - - eldest child or oldest son.

Rene Landry, born in 1618 and native of La Chaussee,Loudun area west of Central France, arrived Acadia 1640. He married Perrine Bourg in 1645, daughter of Antoine Bourg. They had five (5) Children; Marie, born 1646; Marie, born 1648; Madeleine, born 1656; Pierre, born 1658; Claude, born 1662

Ironically, there were two roots, or progenitors, of Landrys in Acadia by the same first name, Rene. This particular Rene has been referred to as Rene, the elder (l'aine).

The second generation of the Landry line from Rene, the elder, was continued through his two sons, Pierre and Claude.

Pierre, born 1658, married in 1682 a Madeleine Robichaud, daughter of Etienne Robichaud and Francoise Boudrot. They had seven (7) children; Pierre, 1683; Marguerite, 1687; Jean Baptiste, 1690; Rene, 1693; Francois, 1696; Joseph, 1698; and Rene, 1699.

Claude, born 1662, married in 1684, a Marguerite Terriot, daughter of Claude Terriot and Marie Francoise Gauterot. They had nine (9) children; Madeleine, 1685; Marie Josephe, 1687l ; Claude, 1690; Marguerite, 1692; Jean, 1693; Anne, 1696; Jeanne, 1700; Pierre, 1704; and Joseph, 1713.

Unfortunately I have no info on Claude II, b. 1690. Have lots more info on Descendants of Rene l'Aine) Landry. Can we possibly fill in the blanks that we all seem to have??

OleBlue50@cox.net

Hi! Sounds like you may be able to give me some assistance. The younger Rene, born about 1634, had a son named Claude (I hope!). I have found two Claude Landry's in the 1693 Census. One was married to Catherine Thibodeaux in Minas and the other to Marguerite Theriot in Port Royal. I am thinking the son of Rene is the one married to Marguerite, since the census had Perrine Bourg, widow of Rene Landry, listed as living with Claude and Marguerite.
Any help you can give me on this would be greatly appreciated.

Going back, my grandmother is the duaghter of Venerande Blachard...d/o Genevieve Landry....d/o Anselme Landry....s/o Alexis Landry....s/o Jean Landry...s/o Claude Landry.

Again, I thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give me. Funny thing, is that I grew up near a whole large Landry family. Never knew that the Landry name was in my background. They were probably relatives!
Judy Cox..... Judysbox60@hotmail.com
Hi Paul

I have not figured out how to reply on the other board but following your though pattern on Alice's father I went to the library and this is what I found - the time line is not quite right take a look and let me know your thoughts.

SW Louisiana - Rev Hebert Vol 17
Same page as marriage Alice Lasalle to Paulin Landry

Pierre Lasalle m.
Hi

On Acadian we have Alice's mother Adeleska/Aliska Alleman tree.

Her Father was of Canary Island descent & her mother was Acadian. She has several Landry lines.

For the details:
To check our Archive see Aug 2009
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/acadian/

Paul Le B
l'Ascension
Louisiane
Hi Marla

My Wife's Grandfather Jean-Baptiste Falcon was as you know a brother to your Great-Grandmother Marie Louise. We call Lloydminster home.

All I have is the 1st generation info that you posted in 2007. I have been trying to get Louis's son Kelsey back into genealogy again, but we are at the early steps in that yet. Had sent him some pictures of the Joseph Landry Family taken back in about the 1906 time frame but no response yet.

Hi Paul,

That would be great. The information you forwarded has been a huge help but I am not yet through all the entries.

The family oral history has Alice and some of the children leaving LA in a covered wagon and coming to Dallas, TX. Do not know where Paul Landry was at the time or the other kids.
Some of the children settled in Dallas and some in Houston. Paul is listed in the 1930 census with one son in East Texas.
No trace of Alice any place after LA.
To answer your questions from a later post

Sorry Pere Hebert SW LA is the Rev. Donald J Hebert Southwest Louisiana Records. It is in both paper books and the first 30 vols. are on a searchable CD (to about 1900)

Hubert Landry & Pelagie BOUDREAUX are Paulin parents.

These are French church records and we use the mothers maiden name.

I could not find his parents marriage. I will try again tomorrow.

==============================

Adoliska ALLEMAND is the only parent listed for Alice.

Like all records these are only as good as the informant. Who told the priest? Was her mother dead & for how long?

I did the First batch and northern cousin Andre Landry did the second.

Paul Le B(lanc)
l'Ascension
Louisiane

I don't have much, but it might give you something to go on. Children of Joseph Landry & Marie Louise Falcon:

Peter Landry married Jenny Whitecap;
Bertha Landry, b. She married Felix Fryou on Aug. 10, 1914 in Pierre Part. I am searching for more information concerning Augustine's parents and family origins.
Jean.

Actually, after a bit more surfing, I found this, a history of Worcester County that reads:

The first records of the Catholic parish of Webster date back to 1844, at which time Webster and surrounding towns within the limits of the county of Worcester were under the charge of the pastor of St. John's Church, Worcester. The foundations of the present church edifice, known as St. Louis' Church, was commenced by the Rev. M. Gibson, who resigned his charge iu 1853, and was succeeded the same year by the Rev. Napoleon Magnault. The original church was completed during the administration of Mr. Magnault, at a cost of about $8,000. It is a plain, substantial brick building, with room for scaling five hundred persons. In August, 1858, the present pastor, James Quau, was appointed to the charge of the parish. There was at that time a large congregation, composed of an English and French speaking people, and tho numbers were rapidly increasing by emigration from Ireland, Canada, Germany, and Poland. Therefore, in 18G5, it was deemed necessary to enlarge the church. This was done by doubling the capacity of tho building, at а cost of $20,000, subsequent to which a .pari--h house was built, at a cost of $7,500. In 1870 the French-speaking members of the parish formed tbe Parish of tho Sacred Heart, numbering two thousand souls ; the Parish of St. Louis has an equal number.

lu November, 18G9, tho French-speaking population of Webster purchased of,II. N. Slater, Esq., the meeting-house formerly occupied by tho Methodists, and next year established a society, with the Rev. J. Cossou as pastor. He continued hero until Jan. 7, 1871, when he was removed to SpcnceK Ho was succeeded by Rev. A. A. Landry of North Adams, the present pastor. Since the society was established tho church has received several important additions, making it a fine and substantial building. The number of communicants is thirteen hundred ; number in Sabbath school, three hundred. )-

I have sent an inquiry email to the Diocese of Webster to ask how to proceed.

Thank you for your help.

The record should be located in the registers of the oldest church in Webster, which is probably Sacred Heart, though this church may not have been established until after 1880. Until then it may have been a mission of one of the nearby older parishes until its establishment as an official parish (you can check in Southbridge, Douglas, Dudley, etc.) for this information. Am pretty sure the parish of Notre-Dame Southbridge was its mother parish.

Although the civil record was filed in Webster, the religious notation would be in the registers of the mother parish, and actually state that it was performed in one of its satellite missions in another town. One book that is helpful to consult is about the dates of Establishment of New England parishes (available from AFGS in Woonsocket, RI).

Good luck.

I am seeking more information on a marriage record sent to me in incomplete form. The marriage was registered in Webster, Mass. and listed as officiated by Rev. A. Landry in 1878. If he was in your family, do you know where he served his parishioners?

I would desperately like to find the (presumed) Roman Catholic Church where the couple was married to help find parents of Joseph Bourque who married Urbina La Chance in the Church Records.

Any advice is welcomed.

I've attached a picture of the record.

Thanks - Beth Bourque
