My name is Lynn(Kujawa)Thrasher and I live in Milwaukee. Your great grandfather Peter was my grandfather's brother...Albert. I'd love to share your records and have you share mine as well. I have a few things I found on-line abort Peter and his family but there are always more questions.

Her daughter is Cecilia Kujawa Wujek from Bay City, MI.
I know there are some Jankowiaks that are from the
Kujawa family in Bay City, MI. that have that similar

Hello,

My great grandmother was Clara Mary Kujawa and that's about all I know. According to my grandfather's birth certificate, she was unwed and gave birth to my grandfather in Kansas City in 1909 - the father's name was Jean Waters from France. She was listed as being from Bohemia. She later went on to marry Francis Joseph Normile in Wisconsin.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My birth name is Darlene Ruth Billington. I was adopted when I was 9 years old. My mothers name was Margaret Kujawa and my fathers name was Gary Billington. My mother came to California from Buffalo, NY, I believe. She was previously married to a man whose name was John McArthur, perhaps. I believe he was in the Navy or some military position. She had 3 sons, maybe four, by this man. I was born in 1979. I am interested in information on my mother and close family. I am not seeking anything more than information. I live in NYC with a wonderful family. I would love to know some basic medical info and such. If anyone can provide any helpful info it would be greatly appreciated.

I know Jacob had many relatives in the Milwaukee area. However, at this point in my searchs, I have no idea what their names were other than the "Old Grandma".

great aunt, and my great grandmother was Cecilia Kujawa

I'm very glad to hear from you. First let me tell you that my husband descends from Jacob. As I'm sure you know, Jacob was married when he came to this country and his wife died shortly after. My husband, Ted descends from his oldest daughter Pauline. Ted is deceased too, very young at 43, but I'm researching for our children and the other descendants from his oldest 3 daughters.

What I'm looking for is any history on Jacob, parents etc.....

I don't know if you're still watching this board, but I could find out a lot about Jacob Kujawa. He was my great-grandfather. You'll have to be a bit more specific in what you want to know, and I'll try to find out. :)

He is looking for Cheryl Ann Kujawa of Toledo. He believes she had a sister, Linda and a brother, John. They went to Woodward High School and were born in the late 1940's, early '50s?

Josefa Kujawa Lewandowski was born 10 March 1873 in Genesen,Posen,Prussia. She married Josef Lewandowski in September 1892 and emigrated to the US in March 1896. They came through New York, probably Castle Garden, moved to Wausau, WI. Josefa died there 22 January 1950 and Josef died in Milwaukee in 1957. They were my greatgrandparents.

It makes sense that Anastasia would name her first child and daughter after a relative (your Cecilia) - Anastasia's maiden name was Kujawa. Kashubs were Poles that were also German. When Prussia/Germany took over parts of Poland that became Germany, their decendants were called Kashubs. St. Hedwig Catholic Cathedral in Berlin was mainly Kashubs, and I believe there is a lot of information that can be obainted there. I haven't had a chance to check into it yet, but if I find anything else, I'll let you know.

Cecelia was Anastasia (Kujawa) Wrobleski's daughter. Anastasia's mother's name was Catharina Wieczor. I think alot of Kashubs settled in the area between Bay City (Parisville) and Alpena, Michigan. It sounds like they could have been sisters. If I get more information I'll let you know.

My great grandmothers name is Cecilia Kujawa Wujek
from Bay City , MI. She was from Preussen also, but
I don't know where.

She was born around 1856, so that would have made her
older than your g grandmother. That would be more like
sisters . Can you tell me more about your family.
On my g grandmothers death certificate her mother
is Frances Wichlacz

That would be really coinsidental that there would be
two Cecilia Kujawa Wujeks living that close by.,

Do you have any Tomczaks or Jankowiaks in your family, Michaelina Kujawa Tomczak and her sister Josephine Kujawa Jankowiak, They came here together from Drzazgowo.

My great-grandmother's name was Anastasia Martha Kujawa, born 2/3/1864 and christened 2/4/64 Katholische Kirche, Gross Bislaw, Westpreussen, Preussen. She married Louis Wrobleski when she was around 16. They both grew up in the same village by Berlin, Germany (both Kashubs) but did not meet until emigrating and landing in East Tawas - Alpena areas of Michigan. Louis and Anna had 11 children. Their last child was born after Louis died (my grandmother, Lois Anna). Their oldest child was Cecelia (Celia) and she married a "Wujek" I believe.

The other children of the 11 that I can remember are: Victoria (Vicky), Henry (Hank), Louis, Leo, Helen, Edward and Florence.

Anna's parents where Johann Kujawa and Catharina Weiczor.

Would love to hear from anyone.

It is nice to find a relative of Michael Tomczak.
I do have some information on him . His wife Michalina
and what whom I think is her sister Josephine Jankowiak.

I still think they are related to my great grandmother
Cecilia Kujawa.

I do have some other info on them that other researchers
helped me with to share.

A Michaline Jujawa, born Sept. 1858 married Michael Tomczak and Polish documents, passed on to me by family searchers found the marriage record of November 3, 1878. They were both listed as being from Drzazgowo, Poland. Michael was 28 at time of marriage and Michaelina 20. Michaelina died of blodd poisoning 4/15/1901 and is buried in St. Anthony Cemetery in Fisherville, Mi Michael was related to my Grandmother, whose family records I am now searching for in Poland.

I did check my notes again and Louis was in Ludington , MI
again , so the others must have moved back to Michigan
too. Thank you for finding those out for me, I will
try to write the library and see if they will get me
copy of Mary's obit.
I do know they were all in Wisconsin at one time,
so if there is a connection to you I don't know.
I only know of Frances because she is on my great grandmothers obit. I am asuming she never came to
the states. There is another Kujawa family that
is in Bay City and they are decendents
from a Wyklasz famlily which is a really similar name.
I did read those too names are linked as the same.
But I don't live in Bay City, Mi anymore so it is to
hard to find the genealogy records I need.
If you want to know more about that family let me know.

Hi. Unfortunetely, I have not been able to find any online index to Milwaukee deaths or obituaries between when the statewide index ends in 1907 and current archived computerized entries pick up from about 2000 on. There may be offline indices available somewhere in Milwaukee that I have not found yet. I can make an appointment to go look at the actual books of death records at the vital records office here in Madison (they only allow 2 people at a time for a one hour appointment), but I would need a better idea of dates first, since they are just arranged by year. But I will definitely write your names down and polk around to see if I can find anything the next time I make a trip to the state historical society. Do you have any more info you can give me about Frances Myklasz Kujawa, such as her death date, parents, or any siblings?

Wujek. Her mother was Francis Myklasz Kujawa.
From Bay City, MI

Three of their children moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Mary Paluch, Jospeh and Louis Wujek.

If your from Wisconsin, maybe you could do a look up
for me maybe obituaries, but I don't know about the death
dates for sure.

Hi. I saw an old posting that said you were looking for Kujawa researchers. I have been trying to trace my Kujawa ancestors. My gr-great grandmother Rozalia Kujawa came to the U.S. with her husband Staislaus Gronowski about 1882 and lived in Oshkosh, WI. Her obituary in 1922 said she was survived by siblings Michael, Stanley, Mrs, Werwas {who I know to be Anna) and "Mrs. Marziak" (who I suspect might have been Catherine Mrotek, but can't confirm yet) -- all of Milwaukee. I believe their parents were Jacob Kujawa and Anna Kowalski -- at least, they all shared father Jacob; some death certificates said mother unknown, so it's possible he had more than one wife. I'd love to exchange info if you are interested in the Milwaukee Kujawas.

Cecelia H. Kujawa born Oct. 31, 1895 in Saginaw County, MI; married John J. Garstecke on Nov. 29, 1922 in Bridgeport Twp, Saginaw County, MI; died Feb. 18, 1987 in Flint, Genesee County, MI.

I have her as the first of 5 children Cecelia, Frank, Charlotte, John, and Ester.

I am researching the family of Michael Kujawa and Mary Mallek who came to the USA from Poland/Germany in 1890 and settled in Milwaukee. Their children were Albert (my grandfather), Ignatz, Joseph, Frank, Peter, Valeria (aka Laura) and Martha. I have information to share with anyone also working on this family.

My husband and family decend form this Jacob. He and Wife Anna came to WI is 1909. Anna died in chidbirth shortly after.

He married another Anna.
