Hi Lois,
It's been quite a while since you posted this. Hopefully, you're still a member here. Joseph's parents are George T. b.1818 in Pa. and Jeanette b.1821.
There are two more brothers Ulysses b.1863 and Newton b.1861 in Maryland. Newton married Annie J. Hunter b.1864 in Philadelphia. She is the sister of my great-grandfather, William Clarke Hunter. Newton and Annie's children are Edna b.1886, Marion b.1888, Vinton1891 b.,Harrold b.1894, Katherine b.1898, Charlotte b.1902 and Albert b.1905, all in Philadelphia. At one point, they resided at 1617 Wharton Street, along with my great-great-grandmother, Charlotte Hunter and Annie's brother, David Hunter.
I found most of this from census records. It's all posted on my family tree (Hunter Family Tree) on Ancestry. It's a public tree, so you can take a look at it if you want.

Vicki Hunter

Hi Cynthia Walter Knorr was born in St louis.Son of Caroline Sauerwein and Louis Knorr. Louis is my husbands grandfather and Walter is his great uncle.

This is a recollection from his sister Katherine:
"He was also described by Aunt Katherine as "fun loving" and had no children. His wife, Cynthia, worked in an office at Sears Roebuck in St. Louis. "

KNORR/SAUERWEIN/ZEPP/ZIMMERMAN St Louis

I am looking for some informaiton on these St Louis families. The
KNORRS came to St Louis from Bellville, St. Clair County, Illnois just
before the 1880 census. It is thought that all these families came to
the area from Germany by way of New Orleans. I am not sure if the
other three families came directly to St Louis, stayed in New Orleans
for a while, or started in St Clair County Illinois the way the KNORRS
did. I would love to know.

Here is my situation: Caroline SAUERWEIN (1874-1950) married Louis
KNORR (1872-1952) abt 1892 or 93. Louis Knorr's mother was a ZIMMERMAN
from Belleville or Mascoutah, Illionois. Caroline SAUERWEIN's death
record lists her mother as Anna FUCHS and her father as Carl (Charles)
SAUERWEIN. The records of her siblings-older and younger- list
Catharina Elisabeth ZEPP as the mother and Carl (Charles) ZEPP as the
father. The census records consistently list Catharina ZEPP as the
mother. There's even a marriage record for Carl and Catharina. .

Here's the problem: The family oral history is not sure if she was
FUCHS or ZEPP, the transcription refers to her as grandma, and her
husband is called Phillip by the great aunt that was interviewed. I
have researched this as much as and I can find no connections with
any Phillip or FUCHS. Although there is a Phillip SAUERWEIN in this
time and place he does not seem to be from the same SAUERWEIN family.
Maybe an uncle or cousin-but I have not been able to verify that
either. Anyone have any ideas of who Anna FUCHS may be? I would
really love to be able to solve this mystery, and also to share what I
have with anyone interested in these families.
Thanks so much,

I know it's been a couple years since this was posted, but I do have some of the information you are asking for from a couple of sources.
I have just recently located and have been conversing by email with Morris Knorr, the author of "German/Catholic Courage. From the steppes to the Prairies, The Life and Times of Adam Knorr 1870-1952".
He also has another book available. To quote a recent email "Last summer my wife and I travelled with 2 Scheck's back to Grosswerder Ukraine where our family came from. I've written a history of Grosswerder with many pics. etc."

I don't have the books yet, but I have arranged to have the first one reprinted and to purchase a copy of the second one.

As for Eva's siblings, I have that and quite a bit more of the family tree from a different source, whom I'm also hoping to get in touch with soon. Looks like they had a very large family!

Anna b: October 15, 1905
Adam b: Sept 05, 1906
Elizabeth b: Sept 08, 1908
Eva b: Sept 22, 1910 d Mar 23 1989 (married Dillon Herron)
John b: April 05, 1914
Anna b: June 27, 1914 (married Walter Wondga)
Matthew b: Feb 27, 1916
Justina b: Sept 25, 1919 (married Oscar Lunddquest)
Frances b: Oct 26, 1921
Peter b: Aug 09, 192 (married Evelyn Schafer)
George b: Jan 04, 1925
Valentine b: Feb 11, 1928 (married Winona Hollingshead)
Raphel b: Sept 22, 1930 (married Phyliss Lindquist)
Theodore b: Nov 09, 1932
Hi Cathy,
I just noticed your answer to my post of 7/23/2004.
I am related to Nicholas Knorr thru his wife Sarah Jane Rector Knorr. She was a sister to my grand-mother. Nicholas and Sarah Jane "Jennie" Rector Knorr are buried in the Greendale cemetery at Lawrenceburg, Dearborn Co., IN. next to her parents. I would love to make contact with Carol Knorr, she didn't answer my post and she would be related to Nicholas and Jennie also.
Jean

Looking for information about the family of Charles E. and Florence B. (Hushman) Knorr. The last point on the timeline I have for them is the 1930 Census. They are living at 5617 Michigan Ave. in St. Louis with seven children: Bessie, Sherman, Harry, Marie, Virginia, Ruth and Jean. I've hit a brick wall on these folks. With all of these children, there must be some descendants out there! :) Thanks for your interest.

Their surviving children were, Mary, John and Maynard. Eva passed away on March 23, 1989 in Kerrobert SK. I would like to find out the names of Eva's siblings. I know there was Adam b. 1905, d. 1917, Elizabeth b. 1908, Anna b. 1915....but there must be more.

I just got a copy of a piece of work entitled "Knorr Legacy, The life and times of Adam Knorr, 1870-1952" from my Mother. This Adam was the brother of my Great-great Grandmother Anna Knorr-Scheck. If by some miracle, the author of this work stumbles across this message in his research would he please contact me. My lineage goes from Anna (Knorr) and Adam Scheck to Adam and Elizabeth (Wagner) Scheck, to Eva (Scheck) and Joseph D. Herron (of Foresters Falls Ont), to Maynard A. and Donna (Higginson) Herron to me.

I want to thank the author of this work for filling in some of the blanks in my own research and for helping me to pick through the maze of Adam's and Anna's in the family to my Great-great-great Grandparents. (I was so confused) The author has also clarified and confirmed some old family stories. I was thrilled to recieve this piece of work and I am truly greatful for the work that went into this.

I'm researching the family on my fathers side of the family and wondered if anybody might be catching a link or two that would help me, or them. Let me share what I have, most of this is from word of mouth and I have not been able to place accurate dates or locations. maybe you have an odd reference that may fit or maybe not. Perhaps you may fall across something in your research. Please keep me in mind.

Replies to me can be addressed to nadams@idsi.net or jnicholasadams@hotmail.com.

Thanks

On the Wagner side( my grandmother) we have the parents of Emily, Bertha, Ida and Clara Wagner as being Charles Joseph Wagner and Theresa Kohlhaupt. The parents of Charles Joseph Wagon appear to be Phillip Nicholas Wagner and Margaret Knorr. However Phillip appears to have been married twice and that confuses the parentage at the moment. His second, or maybe first wife, is Caroline Kroll. Margaret Knorr's parents were Peter Knorr and Caroline Eberts.

Emily, Bertha, Ida and Clara Wagner would have been born around 1890 in Brooklyn, NY By guessing that their parents would have been around 30 when they had the girls that would make the birthdates of Charles Joseph Wagner and Theresa Kohlhaupt sometime in the 1860's. So the Phillip Nicholas Wagner and Margaret Knorr would have been born in the 1830's

There are many dates and trails unknown. Any gambit would be appreciated
