Kinman, Kynman, Kinment, Kinmond, Kinmont
My family eventually chose Kinmont as their family spelling, but records have had them as any one of the above spellings.
Our tree goes back to one Patrick Kinmont who may well have been Patrick Kynman or Kinman. Patrick was a crofter and shoemaker in Balbeggie, Perthshire, and died in 1740. My line comes from Errol, in Perthshire Scotland. Anyone else descend from Kinmans from Errol? I'd love to hear from you. (Please reply to the board, as I don't look at my hotmail account too often!.)

Thanks you for your info on Kinmans. I wish I could say I was descendant, but I do not know. I have my gggrandfather in Indiana in 1834 when he married Judatha Dodson. His name was John S. KINMAN. I think his father was Samuel KINMAN but still trying to get proof.

Hi Evelyn, I believe we both go back to Patrick kinmont from Scotland in 1690. One of my great GM's was Margaret Smith, dtr. of Henry Smith and Janet Kinmont. She married John Heggie, their dtr. Jessie married James Simpson. I went on the Scotlandspeople site and i may have found the wife of Patrick Kinmont. Do you have any info on who he was married to? Do you have any info on Elisabeth Reid or Janet Cameron who married Kinmonts. I sent away for marriage certificates but they didn't have much info. Peter Sharp married Elspet Kindmont 21 jun 1777 in Errol, Perth, Scotland. His son, Charles, had a son, Craigie Sharp who came to the US in 1842, had a son, Charles, who had a son, Craigie, who was my grandfather. Can you make a connection? I have a Thomas Kinmont - a baker - b. abt 1849 in Errol married to Agnes Tait b. abt.1852 (also in Errol) whose ancestry I am trying to establish. Perhaps you can help me establish whether we are connected?

My interest is that Thomas had three sons (Thomas (1881-1960), James (b. abt 1881) and Alexander (b. abt 1886). The younger Thomas is my Grand Uncle in Law as he married Helen Stewart (1881-1951)

I was interested in your stewart connection in errol, I have a Jane Stewart born c.1824 in perthshire who went on to marry John Brodie in errol in 1845.
