I have done extensive research into my
Mendelson ancestral line. My great-great grandparents, which the wife's maiden name was
Katz. Supposedly her father's name was Yankel or Iankel
Katz. I know that my Mendelson's came from Shklov and later Mogilev, so the
Katz would have been from that area as well otherwise my great-great-grandparents would not have been married to one another. I have lots of info on the Mendelson's but
Zilch on the Katz's other then the name of my great-great-grandmother Beila-Ryvka
Katz and her father Yankel. Beila-Ryvka was born about 1855-1858 and her husband a few years earlier. I had a research group comb through the archives in Minsk, Russia for my
Mendelson line. Out of all the research they never turned up any mention of a marriage date.
