KanzlerMIDDLEFIELD — Miss Claire May
Kanzler, 61, of Middlefield, died Wednesday afternoon, July 15, 1998, at
Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1936, in Flushing, Queens, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Dzierqowski)
Kanzler.
After moving with her family from Flushing to Middlefield in 1947, Claire went on to graduate from the
Cherry Valley High School.
For over 40 years, she worked as a sales clerk at J.J. Newberry's on Main Street in Cooperstown until her retirement in 1995.
Claire was a member of St. Mary's Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Cooperstown, the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the
Roseboom Senior Citizens Group. She was also a former member of the Rebekah
Lodge.
She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy A. and Joseph
Konchar of Milford; one brother and sister-in-law, John and
Lora Kanzler of Middlefield and several cousins and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday, July 18, 1998, at St. Mary's Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Cooperstown with the Rev. John R. Roos, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Index.
