James Elton Judy the Third

My Grandfather's name was James Elton Judy Sr (deceased), my grandmother's maiden name was Myrtle Bowman, to my understanding their families came from Ohio and Kentucky.
I was told that the ancestral name was Schudti or Tschudi, something like that, I always got something different from whoever I asked. I was always told that our surname's roots were in Switzerland. Our branch settled on the West Coast, however!
Did anyone know my grandfather or his relatives? Thanks

The family recently located his grave in West Virginia, or Virginia. Sadly we don't have contact with his father anymore, so I'm working on what we can remember. Maybe there's a connection?

My mother is Mary Elizabeth Judy, b.1920 in San Diego, CA. Her father, Wilbur Howden Judy, was from Kansas City KS. She had one brother John Judy, deceased. She does not know her real mother's name. We are looking for any of her living relatives, or any of her family history. The only thing she knows is that her relatives came over from either England or Scotland and fought alongside Daniel Boone.
My father is Richard Bortin Stark, b. 1916 in NYC. His mother's name was Olga Bortin Stark (aka Budianski). We have a decent family tree for the Bortin clan. His father's name was Abram Isodore Stark, a self taught lawyer in Brooklyn, NY. We no nothing about this side of his family and would like to know more.

Kind of late but I just started researching families.
Samuel Judy was Jacob Judy's son. Jacob came to America from Switzerland as a widower around 1777. I think Samuel came with him. His daughter by a second wife, Mary Catherine Judy Stallings is my ggggrandmother.
Abraham STALLINGS was born about 1765 in Nansamond Co., VA. He died on 1 Jan 1817 in Madison Co., IL. He was buried in Falling Springs, Madison Co., IL.

Abraham had two wives--Mary Catherine Judy and Margaret Creamer.

I am Abraham's g3-granddaughter by Mary Catherine Judy; my g2-grandparents were Abraham's son Henry and Rosannah (Emmert) Stallings; my g-grandparents were Henry's daughter Sarah Mariah Stallings and James E Revelle.

I am looking for living descendants of Abraham Stallings, who was in the militia during the Revolutionry War.

I would also like to know where his grave is. It is not in the Nix-Judy cemtery, where Henry and Rosannah Stallings and Sarah and James Revelle are buried.

You may or may not know that the Illinois State Museum has a table made by Henry, constructed from wood from Abraham's land. My great-uncle Eugene Revelle donated it to the museum. http://www.museum.state.il.us/exhibits/athome/1800/objects/s...

Re: Judy family of Tuscarawas & Holmes Counties, Ohio

Let me be specific first about my relationship. I am descended from William Judy through his youngest son Carl Clayton, my grandfather. I did not know about brother Albert or any circumstances regarding their leaving Switzerland though I do recall that my grandparents visited Switzerland when I was a child and the relatives in Sissach. I was too young to think to inquire about family history (though I know that William died when my grandpa was quite young and that his mother was something of a martinet with the four boys he left her with). My grandpa would not likely have shared information with me but grandma would have (we were very close) if only I had known to ask. I did know all of grandpa's brothers fairly well but not their children.

Over the years I heard many things about the family history in Switzerland from my dad, but they were vague and unsubstantiated and I know of no written material, though I have come up with some of my own and I do have boxes and boxes of old photographs which I inherited on his death.

One of my children has assembled quite a bit of material from the internet and I am trying to expand on that and would like to flesh it out with anecdotal info if possible.

I have visited old cemeteries in Ohio (with my dad when I was young) and seen final resting places but I live in Oregon and that isn't so convenient.

This is still not specific, I realize, but I'm only beginning and working with broad sketches and internet research. Reference materials would be much appreciated and my five daughters and I are planning a visit to Ohio in the future to visit those places and people I remember.

Carol (Judy) Richter

I am looking for information on a "Mrs. John W. Judy" who was Regent of the Cornelia Cole Fairbanks chapter DAR in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1952-1954.

This DAR chapter just celebrated their centennial on June 2, 2007 and for some reason there is no information on Mrs. Judy in their records. If you are a relative of Mrs. Judy, or have information on her, we would love to hear from you. We want to know if she moved away or stayed in Indianapolis, if she is living, etc. Any information would be extremely helpful!

I am a former Regent of this chapter and am trying to help fill in some blanks in the history. You can reply to me here, or if you prefer you can email me directly (I believe if you click on my Ancestry username, it will give you my email address).

Thanks so much!
Ann Rotolante
